Just barging in here, but my number one integrated wish for android is that i wish the new version would just keep playing video while browsing other things, i just HAAATEEEE it when i am listening to some music, and i want to read the news that android stops playing once i open up a new tab, i Hate that kind of apple like phone behavior, and i really miss sufficient video support on android. Somebody please tell adobe not to listen to Steve jobs and just make flash for Android, i dont care if it sucks up memory, i just want to listen and watch my cnn video s which absolutely do not work with a basic android instalment on my asus memo pad.

This happens on my own Asus memo pad as well as my parents samsung tablet. Browsing some internet forums i hear tons of people complaining about poor video playback. So i am still going to put video codec and playback compatibility on everyone s wish list for Android.

With zero problems on Dolphin on my M8.

Sorry that you're running in to that but it's not an Android problem per se, other than the silly decisions between Adobe and Google to drop Flash support.

Thank you for your kinds words, and technically you are correct. But its the user experience that matters when smootly running an OS. With tablets and smart phones people tend to expect good video and audio quality to be done for them, since its hard to configure stuff on these small keyboard devices, people want these kind of problems being solved for them so they can enjoy the useage of these devices, rather then being tormented by them. Yes, technically you are right, but morally i think the video and audio codec support should be there to run things smoothly in the first place. I'll try out installing flash once more, thanks again.

I agree with you 100% - and I know that a lot of people are happy to have moved away from Flash.

It's old, it's bloated, and you can have security concerns.

However - a lot of the net still uses it and so who is left holding the bag until they all upgrade?

@sfbloodbrother: Did you end up buying a Windows tablet? I'm actually developing a hands on tutorial on HTML and SQL. And I'm using an Android phone to develop these.

Mobile Sites shouldn't be using flash, and desktop sites aren't a problem because they aren't designed for mobile browsers anyways.

And the next time you're trying to watch a YouTube that won't play on iOS and the Android app says not available for mobile, I'll be watching without trouble using a mobile browser with Flash and the UA set to desktop.

I seriously hope the folks who develop Android software are reading these posts. As a computer user since 1986(DOS UNIX MAC Widows etc), I have to say I am frustrated by the latest iteration of Andriod OS. The fact that the OS discourages use of external media (SD cards) is bothersome to me. The ability to easily transfer data is why I got the phone in the first place because my mac os was too old to run an iphone. I simply mounted the droid on my mac or windows desktop and transfered files. No such luck with Kit KAT, they stupidly took away mass storage as an option and PLEASE don't talk to me about "security" as reason for this. I have yet to hear one valid reason other than Google wants control of our files. I don't want to start hacking into the HTC One that I currently own because I have a life. I simply want those who produce the software to do their jobs.

I totally agree with you. I don't have much music and photos on my phone. Now I can't install apps on the SD cards, making the internal memory quite occupied but the SD card completely unloaded.

Dvorak in the LG keyboard. Took me forever to figure out how to switch to the google keyboard for that.

My wishlist item is fine control over exactly what apps can do, and more information about what they are doing.

We give apps all permissions to do anything, just because we want some specific functionality, and then we're surprised later that our privacy and bandwidth have been abused. It's too common a scenario and it's been going on for too long. We need more control over our data and how other people choose to use our devices through apps.

Having said that, I actually Don't give permission to apps that ask for new permissions, so I'm running very old versions of most apps that have hopped on the "ask for the world" bandwagon - and I love apps that don't ask permission beyond what they actually need. But most of my friends just auto-update or Accept anything that's asked, and then (as the local geek) I get to hear about how everything on their phones is suddenly out of control with privacy issues, bandwidth, etc.

I wish there was a way to set up interaction over a 2d array of tablet screens... Eg swipe a screen sideways and it moves on to the tablet screen to that side.
Cheap tablets make large arrays seem so accessible yet I haven't seen anyone surrounding themselves with interacting tablet screen arrays yet.

Instead of discussing crazy apps that would be cool, I think there is still a lot of basic feature improvement that can be done to Android (which might include integrating some current apps in the OS).
Thought it would be good to have this in one convenient thread for the google developers to be able to take note.
Here's a list to get the ball rolling (not in any particular order of importance)

1. Better Caller ID (This might be T-Mobile's fault, but all the numbers that I used to get ID'd, show up as "unknown").
2. Bluetooth Voice recognition? I couldn't get it to work with my motorola set.
3. Virtual Keyboard - I like the Vista Tablet model, but in this case, you would use your thumb to slide the keyboard out when you need it, kind of like you slide out the Main Menu. Although if that got in the way, maybe you could access it through the menu button.
4. I want the option to auto-mount the sd card when connected via USB put back in menu as a check box.
5. Also, the option to choose the time-interval between data auto-syncs.
6. Better battery management functions, profiles, and quicker access to screen brightness, and the other functions that Toggle provides.
7. Make the alarm clock more like Klaxon (minus all the crashing). Big snooze button, back button = dismiss, ability to select any audio in system or sd card, ability to change snooze length (in 1 minutes intervals).
8. Option to remove unnecessary apps, like Amazon MP3.
9. Ability to setup multiple gmail accounts (with one set to master account)
10. Improve email app, allow for multiple message delete, empty trash, search mail
11. Add in-browser Flash support
12. Add OpenOffice-like app to not only read, but create new docs and save to sd card.
13. Add PDF support.
14. Add a file manager. I like Bender, but I think with the support of Google devs, we can make an even better one that integrates a little more seemlessly.
15. Google Earth!!!!!!! I was shocked to see my brother pull up Earth on his ITOUCH!!!! and ashamed that my Google, yeah that's right GOOGLE, phone could not do the same
16. Speaking of iPhones, the two-fingered zoom in/out is just awesome. Not sure if that is software or hardware, but it's just a huge difference is usability. And you won't hear me praise many things about the iPhone.
17. VPN functionality.
18. Fix Auto-connect WiFi. I almost always have to go in and manually connect, says connection problem, but then connects manually just fine.

19. I have a lot of Google Map connectivity issues, while being able to use other network apps fine, could be google server issue. Don't think it is T-Mobile (I'm in LA)
20. Sync contacts with popular desktop apps, such as Evolution, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc...
21. I am not big on IM, but I've heard a lot of frustration in this area, maybe someone else can give input here.
22. I'm going to steal from another thread, even though this is hardware related. I think we need a VGA video camera in the front for video-conferencing. Can you please release this OTA?
23. Tethering phone to laptop.
24. What do you call it when the screen senses the orientation of the phone, well I want that.
25. How could I forget? ability to copy and paste text from non-text edit modes. Maybe special text selection mode?

OK, whew, that's all I got.

But to finish, I never expected the G1 to be perfect, it's 1st gen, so as Beta testers, hopefully Google/HTC/Tmobile are listening to us to improve not only our phones but the next gen as well.

Flash an aosp based rom without the gapps then (or even with a "pico" gapps package) .
Android will run perfectly well without the "bloat"

My wish for android is to have some sort of instant messaging that is integrated seemlesly into the stock MMS app, kind of like ios, it would be so much better than having 3rd party apps such as Kik or WhatsApp.

I can't see that happening because don't ios have some kind of exclusive deal with the carriers? (I could be wrong)

Fast forward and rewind on the video player for Samsung devices when you make it play in the background. Bring back adobe flash development. Add video calling directly into you phones dialer.
