Looking for good Android Strategy Game (NOT Fremium)

Hi all

I wonder if anyone could give me a recommendation. I like playing strategy games (RPGs, Tycoons, Sims etc) and I have a wide collection on the PC. But it seems most games I try on Android turn out to be some kind of 'Fremium' game, where it's technically free but then they try to suck you into paying for stuff.

The thing is, I don't mind paying for the game but I want it to be all in one go at the beginning. And hopefully not more than about $10 (although willing to go to more if the game is very good). The best game I have found so far is Star Traders. Can anybody recommend any others? I am pretty open on theme, I like fantasy, sci-fi, business sim, sports, anything really as long as it's strategy not action.

Thanks in advance

(Edit: sorry, one more requirement, it has to work on a Galaxy S2)

The Sims and "Tycoons" are not strategy games, they are simulation. RPG's games can require and element of strategy but they're usually not complicated enough.

If you want strategy mixed with a little scifi then pickup xcom enemy unknown, might be over your budget but there is nothing better available for Android right now.

Also Anomaly series is pretty good, Frozen Synapse, Great Big War Game, kingdom Rush or Total War Battles: Shogun.

EDIT: Not sure which will work on a Galaxy S2, I'm guessing UFO and Anomaly won't.

.

Oh yes they are... of course you can play them without strategy but then you're not going to do nearly as well.

And despite the name, i'm really not sure how anyone could call the sims a simulation!

Having said that, i really like the xcom games (from old on pc) and look forward to seeing how well they play on android

Will have to agree to disagree there.

In The Sim's you either complete one of the many micro tasks or you don't, there is no strategy or thought involved and I've played The Sims a lot over the years so it's not that I dislike the game.

Game Dev Story and Grand Prix Story are good ones from Kairosoft.

Football Chairman is a nice strategy/business sim, if you're into that kind of thing.

Plague Inc is good fun.

Star Traders Elite and Star Traders 4x are well worth checking out.

All of the above games have free versions which give a decent impression of what the full game is like as well, so you can try before you buy the full version. :)

Try Warrior Defense. It's offered free but I know of people who finished the game without buying in app items. It's what makes it challenging they say. I know because it's my game and the hardcore players talk to me. They are egging me to make the part two already. Sorry for the shameless plug.

In game purchases are there for almost every good built strategy game. I suggest you to try playing Clash of Clans because it does not suck you into purchasing items.
