Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

Ok folks, I think I'm going to root this thing again.
So question............. what's the best stable basic flavor android Rom out there, ie: ls, cm etc, and what build to use.......... or is twiz roms still the best to go with?

Also just a small reminder......I don't have access to a pc to flash via Odin, so can I flash philz via an sd card? I know the roms can be but wasn't sure about philz.

For philz, just get the zip of it and extract the recovery.img from it. Then use the app "flashify" from the playstore to install it.

You'll see that boost is changing the data plans again and it's 45 a month and existing customers MUST switch to Data Boost Plan by November 3rd they're saying we'll get 5gb of high speed data for 45 instead of the cap we have now but sprint service is pretty bad now so
And the cheapest is 35 for 1gb but we all know how fast 1gb gets used with our current cap so the 45 plan only makes sense
I might be choosing another prepaid carrier boost isn't the cheapest anymore they're just matching everyone else here's the website link they're saying it's a limited time offer and I'm assuming if you miss the deadline you'll have to pay the higher usually prices
http:// mobile.boostmobile.com/mt/www.boostmobile.com
Click the big banner that says "big data small price"
Should be the first thing that loads wouldn't let me put a url link to the banner it wouldn't load

Whatever plan you are on you will get a $5 discount and double the data.
I only pay 40 a month and on the old shrinkage plan still so your saying they're discounting that and adding data because that's not the way I read it
I don't pay 50 now so it wouldn't be a discount I would be paying 5 dollars more and at that point they're matching everyone else

So with flashify can't I just choose the zip file and flash instead of extracting the img file?

Also, can you flash roms with this app?

Update: flashify needs root I guess, it's telling me I don't have root.

Yes you need root first. To install a zip, you need custom recovery. Flashify will launch recovery and flash. So yes you can install Roms.
But with a recovery.img, flashify will simply install the .img all by itself.
I mentioned the steps for easy root without a computer.
Get towelroot app, open it and click make it rain.
Get SuperSU from play store and run it to install su binaries.
Get flashify to install philz recovery (after extracting the recovery.img from the philz zip.) Enjoy! Here is my post with links http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=6700931
Here is the philz .img I extracted already https://www.dropbox.com/s/5j8vfrqqe52r0ls/recovery.img?dl=0

I had Shrinkage with the Prevail. All the way to $35. When I got the S3 it went up to $40 but I kept 2.5 GB of data.

I recently changed to the $60 for 5GB since I don't have WiFi at home, so it will be a better deal for me at $55 for 10GB.

The $40 plan I see on the site says it includes 500MB. So it would be $35 for 1GB.

So this might not be a deal for you if you rely on the data plan and you currently get 2.5GB

Not sure, but I will find out on the 28th when I call them.

Edit
I just went to the Boost site and switched to the new $55 plan. The process was very straightforward and spelled it out completely. It will go into effect on the 28th for me.

I might not get throttled next month. Lol.

Ok, just got off the phone with boost customer care. Here's the low down.

The new data plans are promotional. They are not required. If you wish to use one of these plans, you must opt in before Nov 3.

You can choose to remain on this new plan if you are satisfied with it, or you can switch back to your previous plan if it's not satisfactory.

If you choose to switch back to your "standard" plan AFTER Nov 3, you will not be allowed to switch back to any of the promotional plans.

Hope that makes sense

Not a good deal if you are still on $35 shrinkage or possibly no benefit to someone who uses WiFi most of the time. I get throttled every month, use a lot of public wifi too.

I don't think anybody offers 10GB on a single line for $55. Boost is getting some good press on this.

I'm currently on the $40 2.5gb Android plan.

I burn through that relatively quickly because i travel for work. I'm most likely going to pay the extra $5 for 5gb. I'm on wifi when I'm at hotels, but while in transit I'm obviously not. The extra 2.5gb should be fine in my case

I'm at $40 right now and never been throttled. I may go ahead and switch to the $45 for double the data though. That's pretty much a no brainer. I know that 5 GB plan will come in handy in the future. Especially when I'm camping at the beach and want to stream movies or download a good size file.

There is a new version of Hangouts that is being released. From what i understand the new version allows free phone calls to be made over wifi. I think a dialer has to be downloaded though.

Here is a copy of the newest Hangouts if anyone wants it. :D

Well all its been a good lesson learning the ins and outs of root and this s3 but I'm moving on to the s4 now.

I want to thank everyone for their much needed patience with me as I asked MANY questions over the time and all the fantastic help I've gotten. I can't begin to imagine or think of where I would be without the phandroid community, I have learned leaps and bounds of information and still continue to learn even now, I'd be lost honestly if not for this community.

I will still have access to this s3 though, I'm giving it to my daughter, so I'll still frequent the forums here.

Again I extend my great gratitude to you all for your help and most of all the patience, I know some of you HAD to be pulling your hair out and shaking you fists at me at times :D, so for this I truly thank you all. Your all like my second family in a way heh.

I hope I in turn offered some help and advice back into the community, passing on what others taught me and that I learned. If anything I can't donate cash but I can donate and pass on knowledge if I have any and I hope I've done that.

Always do :) and thanks.
The s3 will be my rooting fix lol. Daughter might not like me to well but I can have her set up and running in a matter of 10-15 mins after a reset. Once you have rooted, reset and such a few times you become pretty proficient and fast at resetting the phone.

Plus, this being rooted she has WAAAY more options now than she ever would with a normal phone, so that is a plus for her.

LOL!!! You're absolutely right. I tell that to people who are new. I've gotten so accustomed to wiping and flashing that i could probably do it in my sleep. :D:thumbup:

Hello all! I am currently having mms (specifically sending group messages) issues on the 8/24 build of Liquid Smooth. I restored the wicked sensations backup to update profile and prl but it didn't make a difference. I like liquid smooth but was just wondering if there are any good 4.4.4 touchwhiz (stock) rooms that are as good as the liquid smooth rom? Also, I have apn zip fix that I downloaded awhile ago, (I believe when I was on 4.2),would there be a updated version of this zip? Maybe that might be the issue, I have data, it's just group messaging doesn't work. Thanks for the feedback.

For touchwiz Roms, Conquest is the way to go.

I flashed that zip, didn't help, still having issues sending group messages. I would like to try the conquest rom. Do I need a different bootloader, modem, etc? Thanks for the help.

I am trying to flash the conquest rom. I have everything I need to update the bootloader except for finding the right odin version to use. If anyone can help me with that, it would be much appreciated.
