Root [Virgin Mobile] MG5 to ND4

Newb instructions are still to difficult for me. Does anyone have moron instructions for me? What do I do? I have a rooted stock mg5 with TWRP. What do I do to update? Seriously, step by step instructions like you are talking to a severely mentally disabled 2 year old. Seriously, I am this dumb, not a joke.
Make a full backup in custom recovery. Then get madbat's stock backup and delete system, data and cache. Then flash the complete stock, and then you should be able to flash the update zip. After, restore data partition to bring apps to new ROM.

I don't understand how to do any of that. That was my point. I am giving up. I will never ever ever ever ever ever root a phone again. Sooooooo not worth it. I gained nothing but frustrations and headaches. I had no business doing that. I have zero understanding of Android or Linux and I have ZERO desire to learn. None. I don't want my mind cluttered with the crap. I have no interest whatsoever in becoming some power user of these stupid devices. I will buy a new phone, I will NOT root it, and I will just chuck this worthless thing in the garbage.

Dude you have to help me out here and tell me what it is that you don't understand. Just saying that I don't understand any of it just isn't true. You rooted the phone and you said you flashed the update and it failed. So you can use recovery and flash zips. What are you trying and where are you getting stuck? Download the backup I made for you and the update by nick_73 I linked here http://link.tapatalk.com/api/click?...RP.zip&subId=50907a3f9889b7ea9ce755f67a05fb37
then report back. And make sure you have a file explorer app like es file explorer or root explorer also.
And honestly you can get a brand new virgin mobile victory on amazon for 79$.

hi guys. i've successfully updated the baseband from mg3 to nd4 and was stock rooted and fullt updated for about 12mins before i couldn't stand the bloat. i uninstalled a ton of them, (i did make a backup) and started to get link2sd going, but i still kept getting insufficient storage errors in the play store. got the RPC:S-3 error a coiple of times while trying to install link2sd.

i decided that i wanted to go ahead and wipe and reflash conquest 11.2 and the update and kept getting a bootloop.

does the nd4 baseband eliminate the chance of using conquest any longer?

Sadly, conquest only works with with mg5 :( Development stopped a while ago. Unless someone makes an nd4 edition, you need stock or nick_73's custom ROM (on www.vmroms.com).

Good luck!

funny thing... I restored my conquest 11.3 backup in twrp after upgrading to nd4, and wouldn't you know it... it's stayed with the new baseband. huh...

Backups don't touch base bands. That's why you can't update using a backup. Your build and system however are back to mg5. Now you have a "mixed" phone. Some people have reported signal issues, random crashes and lack of WiFi or Bluetooth after a while running that way. And for some they were not able to ever fully update again. That's why it was advised against. More bricks are created by people going against the advice of others (who learned the hard way) than almost anything else. But to each their own.

does that pretty much negate the whole nd4 update? in any case, I'll probably hold off on any more changes until nick_73's roms are done. i could very well be moved over to another device by then. got my eye on a few, but roms seem to be growing more scarce by the minute.

You may have trouble with nicks ROM, since its based on nd4.
