Rooting my Nexus 5

I updated my Nexus 5 to the Android L developer preview yesterday and now I want to root it. Since its already unlocked(required to flash the L preview), will rooting my phone wipe away all my data once again?

Usally not. It depends on the method used.

Things are different on the Nexus models. I would say a big maybe. I think it would be something that I would look under the Nexus All things root[\URL] section. I think that would get you farther than what my gereral knowlage would get you.
