Battery Life HTC One

I know this has been discussed in prior threads but I wanted to see if there are any other suggestions to help with battery life.

New to HTC One and on my third day, my battery life yesterday was not bad, was able to get through the day without charging however, was limited on usage so not sure if this is normal.

Today I am almost 6 hours of usage in and I'm already down to 40%, again with minimal usage.

Any suggestions to improve this?

I also have GSam battery monitor installed.

What network are you on? How is your cell phone reception? Are you connected to WiFi or 4G LTE? Do you have all your radios on like bluetooth, WiFi, or 4G? Are you using the WiFi optimization setting? Did you set your to never keep WiFi on when the phone sleeps? Under power settings is sleep mode enabled to cut off data
connection during long periods of inactivity?

There are lots of things that play into battery life. If GSAM isn't showing your phone not sleeping or a bad app you have to take into consideration everything I asked. And you should definitely read through the entire battery thread.

Network- Verizon
Network- 4g LTE
Radios- WI-FI, Bluetooth and mobile data are enabled.

In addition, where can I find out in GSam if my phone is sleeping or not?

I use NOVA launcher as my main launcher.


Cell reception is good.

Look at the held awake time. It should be relatively low. Also, look at what apps if any are using the most battery.

Also, I don't leave all my radios on. I leave on only the radio I'm using. And if I forget to turn off a radio myradio goes to sleep. Radios being enabled will use up battery life even if they aren't doing anything. If they are sending/receiving data then the battery will take a hit depending on the amount of data.

I forgot to mention if there are apps on your phone that you clearly do not use, disable them. I don't use Google +, Twitter, or FB. The Google + app would still run in the background for data so I disabled it. GSAM will tell you what each app is doing.

I was able to get to the triangle but was unable to go to the next step which is recovery mode.

In GSAM your awake time should match your screen on time but that's in an ideal world, it rarely works like that but if you can minimise how long the phone is awake for that will help a lot :thumb:

So I've had my Verizon M8 for about 2 months now. I returned my first M8 after about a week because the microphone unexpectedly quit, but Best Buy replaced it with another brand new one and I've had no issues since. I am curious to see how well everyone's batteries are holding a charge now that most of us have had the phone for a couple months. ☺

I must say, this phone has the best battery life out of any smartphone I've owned to date. I'm a relatively heavy user (~4 hours screen time per day, sometimes more, and I listen to music for several hours per day). Currently sitting at 18% after 16h 25m. My 2-month-old phone still seems to hold a charge as well as it did when it came out of the box, and no issues after the 4.4.3 OTA.

Somewhat off topic, but I really must say that HTC did an excellent job with this gem. I've never been so satisfied with an electronic device.

Looks OK to me. You're probably gonna get 4 hours SOT on time on 4G with a half hour phone call in there.

Most people who get over 6 hours are on wifi the whole time.

With that setup, I'd be worried about my phone using my non-unlimited data over night, while I slept, to sync.
