Root Making the switch from F7 to Volt

Hey guys, I'm thinking of making the switch from the LG Optimus F7 to the LG Volt tomorrow.

Can anyone give me any heads up on a few things, as you all have the Volt?

Non-root:
Besides the 4.4 OS, and the quad core processor, but are some Cons to making this switch?

Root:
It looks as though there is a working root out, but is there any ROM or kernels out as of yet, or any planned for the future?

Overall, unbiasly as possible, what's the outlook on this switch?

Well, you know KitKat changes how you can use the micro SD, right? You won't be able to copy and paste files to the card anymore using a file manager, without a workaround with root.

But it's possible with root, though? How is it done via the workaround?

Edit: are you able to save apps to SD card now? The F7 you weren't able to without link or foldermount workarounds.

You can't really save much app data to SD card with KitKat but if you can root the device I guess that may maximize whatever you can do. I'd think you can do less with kitkat than jellybean and earlier. If you stay stock but rooted there's an app called sdfix which will let you write and copy files to the micro SD.

Link2sd works for moving apps to the SD card
How? After numerous attempts and trying every sdfix, I still get this!

It's like I cannot even install nothing but 2 apps on this junk phone. Never had this problem with ANY of my ICS, Jellybean phones! If I can't move apps to the SD I want to throw the phone away because this it becomes useless!!

Wow, settle dude. First, I mentioned Link2SD, not Apps2SD. Second, I also said I have not used it, I only saw other people mentioning it. Third, KitKat is completely different than ICS or Jellybean in terms of security.

Regardless, the phone is hardly junk because you can't move some apps to the SD card. It has just under 4GB of free space, plenty of room for more than 2 apps. If apps space was such a big concern, maybe you should've gotten something with more internal storage.

To look into your problem, I downloaded Link2SD, Apps 2 SD, and AppManager III. None of them said the phone was incompatible...are you possibly using an old version?

I would suggest you do a factory reset and start over. I had a similar problem with the phone telling me I was out of space when I really wasn't. When I did a factory reset it cleared up my issues

The above images are error messages from a current version of link2sd. Sorry for the madness, ive been working on this phone for several hours for the last two days. I have performed a hard reset/wipe in stock recovery, starting over again but I still get the same problem. Worse, I can't even install apps from the play store or from anywhere without the 'insufficient storage space' error. I have uninstalled almost all bloatware , even from the list within the forum. The only 3rd party apps I have installed without being able to install anymore is es file explorer and few others. I need to figure this out.
