Help Can't get rid of Verizon Visual VM after 4.4.4

I think it is time to get her carrier's tech support engineers on the phone and get it fixed.... be prepared to spend a while on the phone.

The script reader will not easily switch you over to an engineer... been there, done that one.

I agree. I would go into a corporate store and not leave until they figure it out, sure someone will. I always have good luck that way at a corporate store. Mary

This happened to me also... Bring the dropdown screen down, click on the notification, you will have 2 options. Call VM or subscribe. Hit the subscribe button and on the following screen(I believe) there will be 2 options. The one you want is 'Cancel'. After you hit cancel, it will tell you that you have opted out of the Visual VM. Since, I have done this a couple hours ago, I haven't had any more notifications. Hope it works for you! :D

I have done this like 5 times now and although it stays away sometimes for a few hours, it ALWAYS comes back. What the frig.

Have you tried turning off the app yet? Go to settings/Applications/Application Manager. Choose the "All" tab at the top. Find "Voice Mail" in the list and tap it. Tap the "Turn Off" button. That will completely disable the app. While you are there you can also turn off most of the other Verizon bloat app.

Won't that turn off my regular voice mail? I did take a look at that but the "Turn off" is greyed out and I can only "Force Stop" and clear data/cache.. I do not see "Visual Voice mail" anywhere in the app manager.

No, it just shuts off the app. Odd you see it greyed out. Maybe a change in the 4.4.4 update. I turned mine off under 4.4.2 and it stayed off when I updated to 4.4.4.

OK, I took a closer look at the app info on mine. The "Voice Mail" app is listed in the turned off list as I expect, but instead of a "Turn On" button I have a greyed out "Turn Off" button.

So it looks like the 4.4.4 update has removed the ability to shut off that app and for those of us that already had it off, it removed the ability to turn it back on (not that I would want it back).

Getting tired of verizon software here also, both visual voicemail and messaging plus.

Verizon gave me visual voicemail free in November and no way to turn it off, even from my desktop PC at their website it could not be done. I had to chat with a verizon Tech to get it turned off. I think they like that because if it's difficult to turn off then you are more likely to use excess data and they can charge you a whole lot more money in fees and maybe upgrades to those who do not get wise to them.

Mine went away after some update so I never had to call and have them turn it off. Mary

I have Verizon, and looking right now, in Applications/App Mgr/ALL there are only four Verizon apps in use.
* VZW Location Agent
* Verizon Login
*Verizon Support & Protection (this one I turn off from time to time)
*Verizon Tones

I turned off their HD Voice mail the same day that it appeared on my phone. It only works when both users are on Verizon and both must have HD Voice enabled. My wife is the only contact out of 500 that meet that criteria and I damn sure don't need to hear her voice in HD to understand that she wants a loaf of bread at the store.

It is essentially like the one you have with Google Voice.
The big exception is that it is proprietary to Verizon users only... that makes it useless in the Real World.

Oh when I had the free trial I got visual voice mail messages from every one and it didn't matter who they were with. That was back in August when I switched back to Verizon from another provider so maybe they changed that now. Mary

Mary, he meant you get high def audio quality over the phone in voice mail, and to get that from Verizon both people need to be enrolled, at a price of course. He changed slightly from your visual voicemail line of conversation. Both of you were talking Verizon voicemail but of different kinds.

I am glad to hear you mention above that Verizon's default for new accounts is not always free visual voicemail. Maybe people getting my phone were a test case. I have hope that Verizon will keep improving software... I think they listen to their customers and try to do better. I'm still trying to use their verizon plus text messaging in spite of its modest flaws...

EDIT: Update, had another Verizon messages issue. Switched to Google Hangouts without signing in to it. Just for SMS.
