So, I was looking at the back of my phone when I noticed a small removable strip of thick plastic. I removed said plastic, and much to my surprise, there is a heat vent below it! I have not had a single overheat ever since. Looks like someone at Zte isn't doing their job...

Wow - just opened my phone and I've got that there... Now I gotta figure out how to get that out!

Just used the point of a ballpoint pen to push it... It's not even thick plastic - more like tape. Anyhow, it's gone now!

The real test will be if I can charge my phone while using the screen (GPS). If that works, you're a king!

I would love to get some feed back about the results of removing that. Please keep us posted. If my knowledge of circuitry serves me well enough, that should be directly above the voltage regulator module, or whatever the cellphone equivalent of that is. I know damn well its the hottest part of the phone, so it makes sense to have a vent there.

Thank you modhatter6811. This is AWEsome! Brittnearl was also correct about removing the 2 circle shaped stickers. I had attempted to post a pic for akito6776 with all 3 stickers removed but since I've never introduced myself with an initial post, its not allowing me. I can see how this allows more air flow to help drop temps. I agree with roadkill42. This was a great find! I would love to see a pic of the holes drilled through the battery cover and the fake NFC sticker removed. I would not mind doing that next to drop temps even more! Thank you guys!

Great find! This helped me fix quite a few of our family phones. I also modded the battery case a bit as follows:
- Remove the 3 "stickers" mentioned above
- Drill 3 holes in the battery cover right over the new holes where the stickers used to be
- If you have a case, drill 3 holes in the case as well
- Reinstall everything

Obviously, the phone should not be near moisture with the holes exposed. However, I have not experienced any more reboots in the last 2 weeks! I've used the phone heavily at times with no problems. I had the GPS on for a 3 hour road trip with charger plugged in (email/txt on as usual) , and occasional use of the phone via bluetooth. No problems during the entire trip. The phone was a bit warm to the touch especially at the top/upper back area but was not uncomfortably so. I have since performed the mod on the other phones and I haven't seen a random reboot in the last 2 weeks. BTW, the phones are running "L" Awe 2.5, no mods.

No overclocking. I was just tired of the random reboots. We're all on the same device at the moment. I just drilled the battery cover, not the actual phone. Very easy to do. Remove cover and tape mentioned above, measure properly, trace out the battery cover on a paper first, mark holes on paper and lay the cut out over the open phone back. The holes don't have to overlay exactly, but it helps to be as accurate as possible.
