This isn't your average phone hot. I could actually smell the parts burning somewhat. Battery temp is 114 Fahrenheit. Phone is rooted. This happens when playing CoC. (To those of you who don't know what this is, clash of clans. Phone runs fine and fast but temperature is extremely hoy. The top of the phone is much hotter than the battery. (Where the motherboard is)

Hello hyfurd2112,
Typically the device shouldn't run to hot, but that is normal for the device to to get hot towards the top of the phone where the dual core processors are... They're just working hard.
Have you noticed if the device gets hot while playing any other games? Or is it just COC?
If the device is still running OK, smooth and not starting to act up or freeze up on you then it should be OK.

Alright then. My device runs fine so I'm guessing that's normal. Thank you for the help!

Your welcome...
Yeah I believe the game just really pushes the devices hardware... It works it hard and it warms up.
I'll tell you what, when I get the chance in the next day or so, I'll download COC and see how it runs on my L9 and then we can do kind of a comparison and see if mine gets hot also while playing. Just to try and rule out a hardware issue for you.

Does your L9 heat up quickly, like right after starting to play COC or is it after smome of play, like 10 mins?

Also... Have you noticed this while playing any other games?

Thank you so much. You are a very nice person for helping out someone on the internet. I notice the phone getting hot about 5 mins. It's only clash of clans I guess, cause I don't play any other game. Thanks again!

Hi hyfurd2112,
Thank you for the kind words! It's absolutely my pleasure and I love to be here on AF and to be able to assist and help fellow members with the questions and issues that they may have.

I eneded up downloading COC and sure enough it did get hot, but within about 15 mins of play time, (not as quickly as yours) I definitely did notice that my L9 was getting hot towards the top back of the device.(above the battery) So I believe that the game/graphics is just really working/pushing the device and using the cores, which in turn generates some heat.
So I think that your L9 is ok and not experiencing any hardware issues or malfunctions.

Curious to know if any other fellow L9 users have experienced this with COC as well? Or any other games?

I rarely use my L9 anymore (use a Nexus 5 now) as I've passed this device down to my wife and she barely ever plays any games other than something like one of those "Jewel" games while she's waiting at like the Dr. Office.

I also have mine updated to the newest firmware F and plus it's rooted, cwm and running a Stock Modified and tweaked ROM, with a locked bootloader as well.
Something you might want to consider... Especially if your having "Low internal space" memory issues.
The ROM I use has a swap script for the external SD card memory with the internal memory. So my 16GB external SD card is now my internal memory and the internal 1.80 GB is my external SD. Nice feature, especially for a device that only has 1.80 GB of user usable storage.
