Is it my imagination or does the radio in this version have lower reception than previous versions? It never was a stellar performer in this area, my G1 sitting next to my Galaxy would have much better reception (I'm talking like -80something dbm vs -110ish dbm- btw I pulled those numbers out of my a$$ cause I don't remember what exactly they were but there was that big a disparity when I looked right after I got my Galaxy).

Now I'm having signal issues where I didn't before. Previously in my basement I'd get 1-2 bars of signal with edge reception (I only get 3G upstairs with my Galaxy). I installed I5 firmware yesterday and hdblog's galaxhero today after using H2 for AGES.

Tonight I'm getting 0-1 bars, with very frequent full disconnects with no reception at all. ><

You're not alone in noticing the difference in reception between the I7500 and the Dream. I've got both and the latter is clearly better. There are places in my apartment where the I7500 won't get service and the Dream will. Huge bummer.

I haven't seen any disassembly pictures of the I7500 yet, but I'd be curious to know where the GSM/UMTS antenna is located. It's hard to tell, but on the Dream (based on the service manual), there seems to be a modular board containing the antenna which is located near the top of the handset: not even an ideal location. It's much more beneficial to locate the antenna near the bottom of the handset, where the signal will be much less attenuated, as it'll be further from the user's head while conversing.
theres better radio stacks around. i believe the radio stake for h6 was probably one of the best but i dont know how to change radio stack without modifying or messing something else up

You need to create a seperate tar file for 'phone' and flash with that in odin. Or swap the amss from H7 with the one from I5.

Do at your own risk tho :-/

Yeah this is what I did. I used the original H7 files (the ones from here that were split into three parts) and just selected the phone tar and flashed that over using odin with the phone in download mode.

H7 still has issues though. I've since tried I5 again and it's crap. I've had the phone showing signal but unable to recieve calls, same thing but unable to make calls, calls cutting out, one way audio only, and the most rediculous I've had is where the audio in-call basically goes ape **** and sounds as though I'm playing a data cd in an audio cd player. H7 isn't as bad as that but I still got calls cutting out and calls failing in either direction.

How this ever passed accreditation with Samsung is beyond me. You start notcing these issues within a day of use so how they can't before releasing them I don't know.

I would really like to give the H6 and I4 radio stacks a go but I haven't seen them as a download on here yet.
