Has anyone else noticed their battery starting to drain faster on their Galaxy S5? My Wi-Fi and GPS are turned off and it's still draining really fast. Also used a Clean Master app to get rid of any junk files. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. The phone is only 5 months old.

I've barely used it today and it's down to 43% already. Here's a screen shot of the Battery under settings:

Make sure to turn off carrier bloats and some samsung bloats like samsung link platform, quick connect, s-voice, etc. And use location with GPS only when using map or navigation. My S5 stays strong on battery with over 5 hours SoT.

make sure to turn OFF/Uninstall anything with the word Amazon in it, Facebook is bad about syncing and downloading stuff all the time, turn off Notifications on that if you want to keep it.

I have all apps that I do not use turned off, GPS is ON all the time in High Accuracy Mode (is not used unless an app calls it). Screenshot

I have Motions and Gestures turned OFF as well as Air View.

Go into Developer Options and place a check mark on "Do not Keep Activities".... this will close out any app when you back out of it and are not using it, prevents it from running in the background hogging battery. Screenshot

I also use MacroDroid to sense the screen status:
Screen Locked: turns internet OFF (WiFi and Data)
Screen Unlocked: turns internet ON

If I don't have the phone in use (idle) it only uses about 8% battery per 24 hours. Normal use though gives me about 3 days per charge. 2 screenshots

ie, when the phone is unlocked and I am using it, the internet and screen are ON and in use.

I too was experiencing fast battery drain a couple OS updates ago. I tried everything everyone here had suggested with no improvement.

Unless you have a specific need for Location services, turn it off. You will nearly double your battery use. Location is only needed for any app that needs to know where you are, maps, gps anything, camera location tagging, navigation, Facebook, Yelp etc.

Since I turned off Location I'm getting nearly 2 full days on a single charge. Right now I'm at 23 hours and still have 47% battery left.

It can be a very slight pain to have to turn it on when needed but most apps warn you that Location is not turned on so it takes but a second to drag down and tap it on.

Give it a weeks try and you'll get used to turning on Location only when it's really needed.

You are turning more stuff off than I do, but that is okay, you are in deep six land and need to know what is going on.

I have a Widget that I use called Active Applications. It shows me all apps that have not terminated. I found it quite useful, and indeed today for some reason, Google Music Player started running w/o me know it. I did not start it...

I immediately knew something was running because after work, I looked at the phone and my battery was way down at about 82%.... very unlike a typical day when it should have been 93% or more.

I went straight to the Active Applications Widget and it showed me Google Music Player. I used Active apps to kill the music player and all is well.

I think this widget is a part of the Samsung utilities that came with the phone.
If you can't find it in your Widgets list, then download this app and see if it shows you anything
