Any new phone rumors for Sprint?

It's been awhile since anything has been posted here.... i have an upgrade or 2 to use this fall, and i am curious as to what may be coming out? I bought the S5 on preorder at BB, then picked up the S5 Sport when it came out. Both are solid phones and i like them alot, but i always try to have the lastest and greatest. Does anyone know what's coming this fall? Besides the Note Edge and Note 4. Is the Galaxy F going to happen?

Supposedly, Sony will finally offer their first Sony smartphone

Rumor Mill: Sprint, SoftBank to combine forces and launch Sony Xperia Z3 - FierceWireless

The beautiful Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact are up for pre-order

I don't know if I truly believe it, but I'd love to see Sony in the mix on Sprint. Granted, I wish they could get rid of their big bezels on the Z3, but I really like Sony's form factor on their phones.

Looks like Sprint is officially carrying the Nexus 6. Why are they not carrying the new Moto X (2nd Gen), you all think? Cost of support?

I couldn't figure out why the moto x was the only flagship they didn't include. Part of me thinks that there might have been difficulties implementing tri-band lte radios. That's really the only reason I can think of.

To be honest, I'm still a little confused with the different LTE bands and such, but the s4gru article about the Moto X seems to make it out to be one to contain all Sprint bands. Maybe I'm not fully understanding it or the article was not based on the final handset config:

Teaser: "X" marks the spot for the first Sprint CCA/RRPP fully compliant handset - Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

I much prefer the new Moto X (2nd Gen) than the Nexus 6 with the size. I've been rocking the Note2 for a while now, so not unfamiliar with phablet. The Nexus 6 just seems to have pushed that size limit for me.

If the new Moto x were in the same shell, then I probably wouldn't even consider that. It's the only thing that I could think of that was Sprint centric, that didn't apply to the other providers.

That said, the specs on the moto x increased as well, so maybe they had hardware issues trying to fit the radios in without compromising anything else. I really don't know, just speculating.

I doubt that's the issue.

The modem and transceiver chips aren't any bigger to support tri-band and the size vs passive antenna issues have been gone for a while.

And it already went through the FCC.

If anything, I'd be guessing corporate politics and economics - for example, perhaps the release of two new unimportant phones (company name rhymes with #fapple) required yet another commitment level.

These are just my personal feelings but If I had to guess I'd say Sprint doesn't want to make whatever commitment that'd be necessary.

Also maybe they're being more selective in regards to what sells & what doesn't.

Here is what doesn't make sense to me. Sprint will have every flagship device, that all the other us carriers have, including the xperia z3. Would the moto x be that much more expensive for them to carry? Just seems odd, even for financial reasons.

Oh, I agree.

I don't really know - but those seem to say that while earnings are up, new target customers for high end handsets is down. With the push to turn #fapple products running pretty high.

As you say, add the Sony in there, then change the price for the Nexus...

Anyway - they also carry two M8 versions (still the best damned phone made lol) - so I don't know what they're thinking.

Be happy with all the phones and treat them special cause android users are about to fall down to apple level according to Google say customers will only get one update once a year to OS cause they say and see apple doing this and thinks that it works but android and apple is nothing alike I know this has been said before but I think that you see for yourself they are on time with android L and now the downfall

Its good that all Samsung gets the update well if you own a s4,s5 note3 and note4 and my newest one the tab s .

I think that the update pace ought to be like the number of notes in a song - just the right amount.

Don't ask me what that is. :D

For myself, until the game actually changes, the only updates I expect to care about are for security and maybe performance.

Android L is bringing a lot of good things that add up to more cohesion and stability.

It also brings us a new buzz term - "design language" - and as a designer, I think that is the stupidest term I have ever heard. It sounds like the baloney that German car makers used to use.

That's change for the sake of change imo. Lmao

So, I think that updates have to happen to fix past mistakes - and "design language" is living proof that that's going to be a constant in our lives.

I guess I think that whatever the reason, not carrying the new Moto X is pretty dumb.

I also think that not changing the name is a little confusing.

It's not a Chevy Impala. You don't take it to the dealer for service and get asked what year it is. Yet all sorts of people will be calling in to other carriers asking for help with their new X, and then being asked which one it is - I'll leave it to drexappeal to say what the odds are of the "average consumer" getting that right with a phone. I'll bet the support costs will be higher for the carriers.

Hopefully, Sprint will offer it as a modified version with a modified name.

Sprint will be getting the Sharp AQUOS Crystal soon, priced at $240 off contract. It has a 5 inch screen, 8GB storage, 2.3Ghz quad-core, and SD card slot.

Sharp AQUOS Crystal review: mid-range brains meet striking looks

Glad you brought that phone up. Maybe Sprint decided between offering this and another midrange they have exclusivity on over the moto x?

I actually like the higher end version that sharp had announced, but I don't think it is gonna be offered.
