Hello,

I know best buy is offering $200 for "any working smartphone". Actually claims a guaranteed $.. but then the fine print says trade in value may vary.. which completely negates "$200 guaranteed for any working smart phone". I have an old droid 4 that i'd like to unload to trade in to get this new phone. Any idea if they are going to guarantee me the $200? I'd do the actual samsung rebate through VZW but I wont have the full $300 until a few days after the release.

Don't worry, they will take it as long as it does not have a cracked screen and it powers on.

how would you get 300? How would you do it through verizon and samsung? I have an old droid4 too.

I believe he was just saying he wouldn't have the full $300 to pay without getting the rebate if it doesn't work for him. $299 is the 2 year agreement price for Verizon, and maybe others.

You can't do both Samsung and Best Buy to my knowledge, because Samsung is basically matching the difference between your trade in value, and $200. So if Best buy gives you $200 then Samsung doesn't owe you anything.

I'm making the same trade on Thursday. Had to unroot and find a stock rom, so they better take it.

I've heard a combination of two things talking to 3 different best buy employees at 3 different stores this week.

A. Any working smartphone - I have an original Galaxy that I might try to give them if this one is true

B. Any working smartphone that has a minimum $10 trade in value at best buy (can check it online).

Haven't heard anything about needing to be bought at best buy, or that it has to run a stock rom.

It all depends on which Best Buy promotion you are using. The original promotion that expired last Friday, the trade in "smartphone" DID NOT have to have a value. The extended promotion that began last Friday when the older would have ended adds that the "smartphone" must have at least a value of $10. Those that pre-ordered using the pre-order promotion can trade using the first promotion. Those that ordered or buy after the initial promotion can use the second promotion for the $200 GC.

Different Best Buy stores are telling people different things. Corporate says that it doesn't matter where the trade-in smartphone was bought or what carrier.

As usual, all Best Buy stores are not in the loop.
