Apps Android development setup on Windows

Hi. I want to set up a development system on a windows 7 64 bit PC. I could do with database usage at a later date. I want to do it as hard coding not use software that you just drag and drop objects to play games.

Well... what is your question, exactly? Hardware recommendations? Software recommendations?

I think the biggest choice you'll face is Android Studio vs. Eclipse. If you have prior Eclipse experience, use Eclipse, if not, I'd go with Android Studio. Just download the entire bundle with the SDK included and go to town.

I don't know what you mean by 'database usage'.

This means downloading software and installing it in the right order and linking them together where necessary. Perfectly clear I thought. Help is very sparse here if you are not an expert already.

I am a programmer in various languages including C++, Visual Basic, php and C#. Don't know much javascript except onmouse events used in basic html websites.

You can either use Eclipse with ADT or Android Studio, I use Eclipse because I'm used to it but people say Android Studio is better. So I don't know, up to you, but here's a basic tutorial for beginners (uses eclipse) if you are interested:

That tutorial is very basic but it's good as a starting point, of course you should check the official Google documentations for all Android functions and such afterward.

No, that part of your post was clear, I just didn't understand what you meant by 'I could do with database usage at a later date.'.

Here's the Android Studio instructions, full and complete:
1) Download Android Studio and install it
https://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/studio.html

2) Create a project!
https://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/create-project.html
The default screen layouts for the basic activity contain 'hello world' text.

3) Push it to your phone
Click the green 'Play' looking button or choose Run > Run app, and make sure your device is plugged in and ADB is enabled.

Congratulations! You're now an Android developer. That really is all there is to it. Ok, I lied, do you have the USB drivers for your phone? You might need a driver, you might not.

What device are you developing on? This would be useful information.
