Price of used Moto X

My wife and I both have Samsung Galaxy S4's. She broke her's last night so I'm trying to find a replacement phone for her. I've always been kind of interested in these MotoX's but have never given it a try. I've found a used on on CL for $100. This seems like a good deal, even for a 1st Gen Moto X.

Does anyone else have any thoughts? FWIW, I would donate my S4 to her and I'd be using the MotoX as I would probably be more comfortable with the all Android experience. I generally went with S4 over others because of the removable batteries and SD cards, and I would be taking a leap that i don't need these anymore with the Moto. Just curious about thoughts and experiences.

Check on Swappa.com, I like it much better than Craigslist or eBay. I just feel 'safer' there.

The '13 X is a great phone! How much storage do you actually need? I have the Developer edition, so 32 gigs and I'm nowhere near close to using all of that. I don't take a ton of pics but do have ~1200 songs loaded. My sister has a 16 and takes a crap-load of pics, she's at the point of needing to delete/move some off.

Mine's over a year old now and I have no issues with it or the battery.

I guess I would want to know that the phone's IMEI is clean and it's not a stolen device. I suppose the safest way to find out is to arrange to meet at your local carrier store and have the technicians there check to make sure that the phone can be activated.

Well, I guess that there are online ways to check, too.

I don't know who your carrier is. If it is Verizon or Sprint, you'll want to make sure that the device is one of theirs - Sprint will not activate a non-Sprint phone, and the same goes for Verizon. If it's T-Mobile, you'll want to know that the device is not SIM locked (which AT&T phones will be, though Verizon phones are not, interestingly enough, though an unlocked phone is probably the safest buy.)

Again, you may be safest arranging to meet at your carrier store for the sale so you can verify that the phone will actually activate on the network with a new SIM before you actually pay for it.

If you want a truly safe way to buy a used phone, http://swappa.com/ might be the best bet (though I can't say that from experience, they seem to take pains to make sure that devices for sale are legit.)

Thanks for the reply folks. I should have included a bit more info.

I have purchased used phones before from CL and always meet at a store. It seems that people with illegitimate phones will frequently avoid doing that. I can activate it in the store with them there before turning over the money.

My carrier is Sprint. It seems from other reviews, that $100 for this phone would be a very good deal. I do have a ton of pictures, but I also use Dropbox and don't *need* to store them locally. From what I've seen, it seems that reviews are pretty positive on this phone and it wouldn't be a huge "step down" from an S4.

It's an excellent deal. The only issue you may face vs. an s4 is battery life, but almost every day I find ways to plug in if I need to.

I have a 32 gb Maxx but I'm only using 7 gb at the moment. My photos get backed up to both g+ and Dropbox so I can see them (plus photos from my real cameras) using the photos app that comes with the phone or the Dropbox carousel app any time I need to.
