Question about shutting off device

I set my phone to reboot once a week at a certain time (2am) on a certain day (Tuesday)... you could use the same profile to turn the phone off. It does involve using another app (Quick Boot) - not sure if you have to have the pro version in order to use the Tasker plugin functionality though:

  • In the profiles tab, click the "+" sign (to create a new profile)
  • Select the "Time" option (set start and finish both to 23:00)
  • Press the key to get back out of the "Time Edit" screen
  • From the list, select "New Task +" (and give it a name if you want - off/reboot/etc)
  • In the "Task Edit" window, press the "+" sign (to create a new task)
  • Select the "Plugin" option
  • Select the "Quick Boot" plugin
  • Hit the pencil next to "Configuration"
  • In your case, select "Power Off" from the drop down menu (I selected "Reboot", as that's what I wanted my phone to do)
  • Hit "OK" at the bottom of the screen
  • Press the key to get back out of the "Action Edit" screen
  • Press the back key on your phone and you should be good to go... when it gets to 23:00, your phone will power off :)

You could always add other triggers - day of the week, for example, if you only want to turn your phone off on certain days.

Lemme know if this is what you were after... if not, I'll see if I can offer some other advice :)
