Yea it's all over the internet that Moto X Pure Edition is getting the soak and within a week or 2 the full roll out begins. As exciting as the update to Lollipop is and as awesome as the title of "first pre released phone to get the update" is, why is no one talking about the LTE band update? I mean really?

It's currently the "BIG" thing keeping me from buying the X and holding out the Nexus is not todamnbig :D. Alostpacket, I know you're on TMO so it doesn't effect you, but us ATT folks are worried. :(

Finally on 5.0. Too bad I had to unroot to do it, but I'm loving the additions that Google made so far. When I get more time to sit down with it, I'll go through them all, but so far so good.

My only gripe, though, is that I don't much care for the new task switching UI.

Looking forward for the next xposed and Gravity Box releases.

For anyone who gets Lollipop early - make sure you don't have the battery drain bug that delayed Lollipop from being released to the Nexus devices. :)

Can you clarify?

What bug?
What build was it fixed in?
How would one know their build did not have the bug?

/No offense meant, I am just really not a fan of vague warnings

Incidentally I loaded up Lollipop on my device last night, so far so good. I got tired of waiting and grab a build from XDA that is supposedly the second soak test but then became the official release as it went well.

5.0 Lollipop arrived this morning via OTA. (T-mobile / Pure Edition from Motorola)

It's running smoothly, though i'm still getting used to some of the features.

One causality, though, is the Power Management widget. I know that all the functionality was placed on the new 2nd notification screen, but i think i'll miss having them on my homescreen.

time will tell.

The first phone with Android 5.0 Lollipop is… the 2014 Moto X?! | Ars Technica

:tee:

(Edit: I should note that I have yet to get it but I'm not part of the soak test group)
I am late to the party as always but I got my Moto X 2 a couple of days before Thanksgiving and updated the software before the day was over-I never even used KitKat. . :) my old phone was a GNex with JellyBean. Gotta say, I really, really like it and even though the power bar is gone, most of those features are in the settings shortcut now.

I think your best bet might be to ask Moto/StraightTalk customer support.

I dont think anyone here can answer that for you -- too many variables there...unlocked....but AT&T branded...but not on AT&T...and maybe not activated at all....?

To be honest, I am not entirely sure StraightTalk would ever push any update to your phone. Because they are MVNO, they are only pushing updates to phones they sell -- and ATT probably would never push updates to MVNO users. But I dont use an MVNO, so I am just guessing at a lot of this.... best to find out yourself :) Good luck!
