Root Help with upgrading to BB1.0

I currently have BB 0.9 and i want to upgrade to NexBeast 1.0. So my understanding is that NexBeast is based off of BB1.0. Does that mean I can upgrade to nexbeast 1.0 from BB 0.9? How is this different from installing a new rom? I have also never tried to upgrade from one build to the next, how would i go about doing this? Sorry for the noob questions but any help would be sweet thnx!

You probably can install over the old ROM but my (and many others here) rule if thumb is to do a wipe of your system to avoid any problems (your apps will still be available in the market or do a backup). It will take a little more effort up front but save you from problems in the long run.

Sorry but how do I do that? I'm a serious noob and I really need dummy instructions. Do you have a link to detailed instructions on how to install nexbeast. I need someone to hold both my hands and wipe me while I do this

Easiest way that you can do, considering your claim of noobyness, is by going through ROM Manager (app, paid version) and going into the Bugless Beast option under Download Rom, and pick NexTheme from the selections it will give you.

Wipe and Clear before you install, its an option given to you after you d.l the ROM

*Note* I had to Wipe and Clear twice before it ran correctly, meaning I had to install from ROM Manager twice before it worked properly.

and as always.. DO A BACKUP! another option given to you from ROM Manager.

Also keep in mind that when you do Wipe and Clear you will have to start over with placing your apps where you had them as well as the data you have stored in the apps, unless you use Titanium Backup (donate) which will save all if not most of your data in the apps... and I read somewhere that My Backup Pro will also back up your texts.

Well, I use it cause its faster. The harder way is still as accurate, but also gives you the extra lesson. You will learn from flashing it yourself.

That im not sure about. Some widgets and font wont be there.. actually im not sure if the ROM was updated on ROM Manager.. if you want everything, I'd go with the NexBeast thread to be sure you get everything.

That is if you want to have NexTheme with BB v1.0, if you just want BB v1.0, then ROM Manager wouldnt hurt

NexBeast is a themed up version of Bugless Beast v1, its the same thing just with the theme in it. In ROM Manager, you'll find it under Bugless Beast, when you have downloaded that or while downloading that, you will be given the option to select your theme, NexTheme is the one your looking for.

And I just read over the NexBeast thread and I believe you'll get themed up versions of Ringer Droid and MotoTorch widgets, a font, and the latest versions of wifi and tethering apps... not sure wat else is included with NexBeast... but that .zip is in the [Themed ROM] NexBeast thread, which you can install using clockwork (ROM Manager) just drop the .zip in the root of your sd. then in rom manager go into recovery and install from sd card

i used rom manager and followed all the instructions and it installed and rebooted and now im stuck on the droid eye for 10 mins. Did I just brick my phone? Should i pull out battery and restart?

you are no where near bricked. do a battery pull and see if it boots the second time. If not you will need to boot into recovery and fix manually

Ok i did everything and i installed the 1.2 ghz kernel but i d/l setcpu and it shows that my max is 600mhz. What happened? I installed with rom manager and then i installed nexbeast.zip and installed it with rom manager and i did the data wipe before both installs

When you went through device selection screen did you select auto detect?

yea. Download it from the link below. Then put it on your sd card. Go into rom manager then press install ROM from SD Card. Then find the kernel you just put there. Then you are done
