Hello,

I have a lg f6 phone. I wanted to install the unofficial kitkat but I'm a bit confused. How do I install this either one of these and which one do I install on my rooted f6.

[ROM][4.4.4]CARBON ROM Kitkat 4.4.4 for LG Optimus F6 [LOTS OF FIXES]

CyanogenMod 11 for the LG F6 Beta release

I am rooted. If anything goes wrong, can I go back to factory settings.

depends on on what you want to use , they are both kitkat ROMs i have tried cm11 already i will be
trying the carbon ROM tomorrow :) but for what i see they both are AOSP ROMs tha means they are bases from stock android with no LG skin on them, about wich one is better i would not be able to tell you right now , not until i try carbon ROM too

If you have a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod or TWRP (Go here if you don't http://androidforums.com/metropcs-o...ing-optimus-f6-recovery-updated-8-3-14-a.html) all you would need to do is:

1. Backup from your recovery- you could regret not doing so if you are not happy with the roms, it would be much simpler to restore the backup than have to flash the stock rom.

2. Factory reset from your recovery

3. Clear the cache in your recovery

4. And flash your desired rom

I am rooted. If anything goes wrong, can I go back to factory settings.

This is why you need to always make a backup before doing anything like a new ROM.

Using a custom recovery make a backup of your current ROM, and then you can flash a new rom. If you so choose you can restore the backup and it will be exactly as if you did nothing.

You need to install a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP and this will allow you to make and restore backups, as well as flashing ROM's and Kernals.

  • Follow the thread in the FAQ about installing a custom recovery,
  • then download the rom you want to try,
  • Boot into recovery by turning the phone on while holding power, and the volume down key
  • Make a backup of your current rom.
  • Wipe everything.
  • Flash new rom.
  • Reboot

I flashed ROM with the cwm recovery and got kitkat on my phone but when I was in recovery, I didn't flash for the stock Google items. Like gmail and ect. Forgot the name of that flash sorry. So, I tried to boot into recovery again and it won't let me boot into recovery. I've tried to install cwm again. Also, choose recovery in shutdown options, holding down the volume key but still it won't go into recovery like it has before. It acts like it wants to by flickering a couple of times but then it will just boot up to the home. Is there another way I can get back into recovery?

You can go to the Goggle Play store and download the "Rebooter" app by Playful God. It is useful if you have any form of recovery installed, except I'm not 100% sure if it is able to get you into the Twerp Recovery since I don't use that method, all though it may.
It does work on Clockwork Mod Recovery and the 2ndInit Recovery type of recoveries. It is free and works very well. Its a great tool to have in your development arsenal.
It saves a bunch of your time, and makes things a lot less complicated trying to reach recovery mode.
Be sure to give it a favorable Rating.

For now try holding the " power off and volume up " this could get you back to a factory reset.

Remember to ALWAYS make a back-up and keep it safe off your device to return you back to a desired setup.

Installation;

1. boot into recovery
2. factory reset
3. wipe cashe partition
4. format system
5. install zips from external SDcard*
(This includes Roms,Gapps,patches, repeat
for all files needed to complete installation)
6. choose go back,choose advance,choose power off
7. power on,installation process will begin.
8. let phone set for 5 minits after installed is
complete.

Hints;

I factory reset in recovery
one more time before setting my phone up.
Once I have completed setting up the phone
and install the apps I want to use daily,
I make a recovery backup, restart and copy

I'm still a bit confused. How do I load the backup if I can't get into recovery. The phone won't let me install any apps. The apps say they're installed but I can't find them anywhere.
Start from scratch means
You gotta unbrick first.
Watch this;

Then root,install superSU&busy box And install a recovery method again.

Thank you to everyone that was trying to help me. I seriously appreciate it. I finally was able to get the phone, up and running again with the rom. Although now, it seems to freeze at times. Also, it gives the error "Unfortunately, The App has stopped" when I'm trying to do something with an app. It just freezes and gives this error. I was trying to see if I could fix my memory problem with link2sdplus but and most of the apps I run freeze with an error.
