Help I dont get a text notification/sound if I stay in the text, even if I turn the screen off.

So I keep missing texts cause the phone doesn't give me a notification. I understand why it would be muted if I am still looking at the text screen but it seems to me it should make a sound if I turn the screen off. I dont want to have to stare at my phone waiting for a reply, or have to remember to close out of the text so I get a notification.

Is there any way to fix this?

No way to fix it at this time until Samsung acknowledges its an issue and fixes it with a software update. All Note 4's and Samsung Galaxy s5's have this issue. It is not carrier related either so its between Google and Samsung to fix the glitch.

So, when your screen times out, does the device lock? Or is the device set to lock X seconds after the screen times out?

I get notification if my screen turns off AND if the device is locked. I normally have my device set to lock 15 seconds after the screen times out, but I just set my device lock timeout to 0 seconds after screen timeout to test this and even though I am in my messaging app, if the screen is off (meaning it is now also locked for this test), then I get the notification sounds.

Can you let us know if this test works for you?

EDIT: never mind, I use Light Flow to handle notifications, that's more probably why it works for me than the device lock timer.
