Help Stuck on Samsung screen and have bad usb port

Last night I got a notification about an android update. I proceeded to install and after completion, it remained on the Samsung screen for several hours and killing my battery. Since my usb port is bad and unusable, I then removed battery and replaced with fully charged one and still it remains on the same screen. I just did a factory reset and still get same results. I read about doing the odin download or something of that nature but since I am unable to attach to my pc, is there a download that I can put on mini sd then recover on my phone that way? Im somewhat good with this kind of stuff but not completely lol. I'd appreciate any help/suggestions.

Suffering the exact same problem, except my USB works. VM tech support doesn't know what to do short of replacing the phone. Haven't even tried a factory reset. Sideload from SD card?

I don't care to what version of Android I go, I just need to get in the phone to backup contacts, photos, etc.
If your USB works just Odin the correct firmware for your phone/carrier.

I am suffering the same problem as well; however, I'm not as tech savvy as these other users. I have a working usb, so I am going to google terms like ODIN and try to find the firmware for my Boost mobile. If anyone is willing to advise me ... I'm desperate for help, but I might frustrate you with my lack of knowledge.

Can't believe that VM/Sprint/Boost put out an OTA update that screwed up so many phones!
