VillainROM 5.5 has just been released! It's available via OTA.

The official thread is here:
VillainROM Forums • View topic - [ROM] VillainROM 5.5 (With OTA Updates & Stock Rosie)

The 2 biggest issues people were having with 5.4 were:
  • Custom (blue) theme. 5.5 will use a zip-aligned version of stock Rosie (HTC Sense) with the ability to add custom themes via OTA.
  • Network location fix not working unless GPS was on during boot. This is now supposedly fixed.

Other points of interest:
  • Multi-Language (Keyboard Only)
  • Gallery 3D 100% working

The following issues still exist:
  • MMS Issue, (fix is available within the Villain forum)
  • Split messages (Hotfix coming soon)
  • No Voicemail indication

think until the voicemail and mms issues are fixed, im gonna stick with sense hero 2.2. stickmans 2.2 version seems to have really helped with battery issues, althought i have also change it to GSM auto (PRL)' works with 3G/HSDPA, which is a real improvement.

I don't see any point in updating when their are still ongoing problems with 5.4.

GPS Still does not work without having to mess about with a reboot.
Bar code scanner has never worked.
wifi does not stay awake no matter what settings you try.

As said the GPS thing is fixed in 5.5. As for the barcode scanner and WiFi issues, it's the first I've heard of those and neither of them are effecting me on 5.4.

What does the Gallery3D fix do?
Sorry if that's a dumb question, but is it to do with the photo gallery or something else?

There is a new 'Gallery' that displays your pictures in a fancy way. It had some issues before which are now fixed. So you've got 2 choices now, the old 'Albums' which is now called 'Photos' or the new 'Gallery'.

Yep, if it was OTA updater it would be flashed now, it doesn't seem to be on the server though:(

You have to manually install the new version of OTA I think.

I've decided to roll back to 5.4 for now. I got a lot of FC's while opening various apps. I think it might have been to do with having Dalvic-cache on SD but that works fine in 5.4.

I also found it was caining my battery quite heavily. I suggest any wanting to try 5.5 do a Nandroid first so you can roll back if needed.

For me 5.5 is the best 2.1 ROM yet - even the live wallpapers are working smoothly without patching.

I have been using it since last night, no obvious force closes, Im happy using the MMS fix, and all data streams seem happy.

Going to compare my GPS results from my journey home last night later, there is no Lag to speak of.

I loike it!!

Arghhh, and there was me not going to bother as not heard too many good things about 5.5. Is there a big diffeence between .4 which I'm on at the moment?
