My desk clock wake up tone scared the bejesus out of my wife,

actually me too . Is there a way to load my own tones to the desk clock? I'd like to take a clip from a song using RingDroid and make a wake up tone that is more soothing and less startling.

Yup...first morning I used the alarm A. scared the crap out of me, and B. scared the crap out of the gf.

Now when i set the alarm, i get the usual "turn it down, i got scared the other day" chat before bed lol

So wouldn't it be nice to be able to grab a section of your favorite tune and use it as a wake up call! Waking up early is no fun in the first place but that's how I'd like to wake up.

I did, I have the "Late Late Show" theme song play in the morning. You have to put the file you want in The "alarms" folder on the phone. In astro, the actual location is /emmc/alarms. I have some mp3 files in there, and they show up as available tones for my alarms.

Let me know if that doesnt help, I can write simpler instructions once i get home and can connect my INC to the comp and figure out the step by step instructions.

Ok, so

1) Connect phone to computer as a disk drive. (When its connected to the computer select that option from the notification bar)
2) Select the Drive for the internal storage memory, not memory card. (Should be the one that has 6.59gb at total capacity, at least thats what it is on mine.
3) Make a folder called "Alarms" and stick your mp3 or other file in there.
4) Make sure to disconnect the external drive from the computer so phone memory can be accessed by the phone again (Just go back to the notification bar and change the connection type back to charge only)
5) Go into Alarms, by tapping on homescreen clock, or whatever way you get into it, and new sounds should be there.

Please report back if my steps worked for you...

My favorite one of the stock ones is Instance. It actually doesn't sound harsh to me when I hear it first thing in the morning. It's actually much more soothing to wake up to than a song or anything else.

If you download the App Zedge you can...It is an app that lets you download wallpapers and ringtones..Once you download it when settign the alarm and picking the sound it will ask if you want to use Zedge tones or HTC something like that..Just pick Zedge and it will list what you have download it..Zedge is a free app and free downloads. If you need help send me a PM..Also if you set one as default when picking the sound you will have to go back into Applications and reset defaults on either zedge or the HTC sound thing again send me a PM if you get to that point. Let me know if this helps.

I tried these steps and I can create a folder named "Alarms" but that doesn't make the alarm program access that folder. Using Astro, I found that the stock alarms are listed in the following directory, just as andrewzpsu metioned above.

/system/media/audio/alarms

The problem is, astro won't let me paste anything into this folder, and when I connect the phone to my computer, I can't even see the "system" folder.

Anybody have any ideas?

Ok, this is what finally worked for me:

I created the folder called "alarms" on my SD card, and not on my phone storage. This allowed me to choose any MP3 file from that folder when I choose the alarm sound.

No, it doesn't ask... or at least not mine.

I had to do the following to get it set up with Zedge...
1) Select a download from Zedge and set as default alarm tone.
2) Add new alarm with the alarm clock, and it's automatically set as the Zedge default.
3) If you like more than one alarm with different tones for each (as I do), you'd need to repeat 1-2 by making a new default ringtone through Zedge and then adding another alarm with the new default.... pretty annoying.

I downloaded Alarm Klock, but in roder to access my Zedge Downloads, I had to scroll through 2000+ songs I have on my MicroSD and pick it out... also kind of annoying.

I just made the same structure on the emmc storage: /emmc/media/audio/alarms and put my mp3's there and the alarm setting picked it up.
