Looking for a few good Accessories

Hello,

I was looking for some advice on a few accessories with my Samsung Moment.

1st is a good belclip on holster for the moment. The one i bought has already broken twice (guess thats what i get for spending on $2.99 on it lol) so won't buy that one again. Anyone have a good holster they can recommend?

2nd is a bigger SD Card any recommendations; I mainly store a lot of pictures on my phone (not music) so don't need anything crazy just something bigger than the phone comes with. (side note: is there a way to specifically save pictures to the SD Card and not the phone's internal memory?)

3rd is a car mounting system so when I am using the GPS on the phone I don't have to lay the phone down on my seat. Would like to have it were I could mount it up on the dash somewhere so I can easly see it while i use the GPS. (don't want something that does not require me to damage my car to much to install...not going to drill any holes in my dash).


Diffrent topic: My wife has a Sprint HTC Snap and is always running out of space when it comes to emails and picuture storage. So I was going to buy her a new SD Card as well, because she only has what came with the phone. She does not qualify for the full upgrade with sprint until later this year at which time I will upgrade her to an Android based phone. If i buy a SD Card for her HTC Snap now would I be able to take it out of that phone and put it into her new phone?? Any recommendations for a new SD Card for the Sprint HTC Snap??

Just be sure not to reverse that and buy the sd card off ebay, too much fraud!

I use this, bought on a NYC street ~4 years ago originally for my Dell Axim. I used it for a year or more, dumped it into the dead toy box and dug it out 6 months ago when I got the Moment. That's a lot of durability for $3.

I personally like the hard clip holsters not the soft ones. The last one i bought for the moment was only like $2.99 but I have gone through two of them so far. So was hoping to find a more durable holster than the one above which I found on Amazon.

I searched on Newegg for SD cards but it doesn't come up with any for the moment???

On the SD Card - They are all interchangeable, so you probably won't find one that specifically lists the Moment. I have an 8 gig one that I picked up at MicroCenter in KC. I used it in my Touch Pro and then moved it to my Moment when I got it.

Just search for MicroSD on new egg and get the best one you can afford.

The pictures you take with the camera are automaticaclly stored in DCIM on the SD card.

Here's where I got mine (4 of them) Amazon.com: Arkon Cell Phone Car Mounts Take your pick (of 88). I got the long gooseneck and the shorter one. Like them both. Only problem with them is you push the camera button when putting them in the holder. (Just turn it off)

Get your SD cards from amazon too-- take your pick they have class 2 thru class 6 all the way up to 32 GB I got 16s for my and my daughter's moments and for my wife's rumor. Depending on what you already have, it might be worthwhile to get one with adapters up to and including a USB reader. Love mine.

That leather holster Pasta recmnds looks pretty nifty too.

I bought a 16gb SD card for $30 on Amazon.com. Sandisk, at that. Just search for 16gb SD card.

Got this one from my local Radio Shack...

It works great except that where it holds the phone it sort of covers up the Call/Answer and End Call buttons. With Android 1.5 I used to keep a tooth pick handy to get to the answer button, but I don't need it with 2.1 which has an on-screen answer button.

Think i will go and check out Besybuy this weekend and see what they might have for a holster, SD Card's, and car mount. Hard to tell on the net if the car mount will function well in my truck because most of them seem to say "Does not work with circle ac vent's" and i don't want to use the cup holder ones so that only leaves the sucking cup ones which i am not sure would work well either. So hopefully I can find one at a store that i can hold in my hands and try out.

I have seen several clip holsters for the moment ranging from $2.99 to $15 but they all seem to look the exact same to be honest. I have already bought two of the $2.99 ones. So not sure if i would do any better spending $15.....

As far as the SD Cards i suppose those will be the same no matter where i buy them. Is there one brand/manufacture that is better than another??

Just a quick note on the Snap...

Go to Outlook, Account Settings - save all attachments to card is one of the options. WinMo doesn't do this automatically, so make sure you check that box. Storage issues should go away pretty quickly.

SD cards are pretty much the same. I have used San Disk and Transend cards in my phones and cameras without problem.
class is another story--I don't know much about the different classes. Maybe someone else can help with that, but if you do go to BestBuy, stop at the Geek Counter and ask them. I liked the suction mounts I suggested before. The lever action ones stay where you put them. There is at least one Arkon (CM910) (SM310--smaller one) (I have both) that have all three Windshield, cup holder and vent mounts included. They also have a disk you can stick anywhere on your dash. (No holes needed. I guess I don't understand why a windshield mount wouldn't work. I've found Amazon to be the cheapest way of getting a lot of stuff.

The class of the SD card is the read\write speed of the card. The higher the class number the faster the read\write speed. So a class 2 card is slower than a class 4 card, I think class 6 is the fastest made at the moment.

I'm assuming you want more than 2GB, which means you'll need Micro SDHC
I would stay with class 4 or above for speed, though class 2 will work if you're on a tight budget. If it doesn't state a class, assume 2.

Can you give some feedback on that holster after you get some usage out of it? I had the BodyGlove case w/ clip for 24 bucks and it was HORRIBLE...the little black tabs kept breaking off and I had to have it replaced twice and finally rcvd a refund. Would be great to hear your feedback on the clip. Thanks ahead!
