Sub-Subforum Request: Sprint/VM/Boost Tri-Band Galaxy S3

The SPH-L710T differs enough from the SPH-L710 that kernels, ROMs, and rooting methods for the latter don't all (very few, actually) work properly on the former, and it's hard to discuss it because there are Boost, VM, and Sprint versions of the phone... and each of those carriers have their own subforums, and most people don't know the difference until after they mess it up.
I'd like to request that a subforum for it be put under the Samsung Galaxy S3 subforum so it can be discussed properly, and that this thread be moved into it.

kdude, do you have a suggestion or preference for the forum name?

Something to the effect of "(Sprint/Virgin Mobile/Boost Mobile) Galaxy S3 [Tri-Band Model] - All Things Root" I guess. Whatever fits the name format of the other subforums best while specifically keeping at least "tri-band".

@kdude63, there may be some structural changes to the ATR sections coming that may negate the need for this, or perhaps alter the right way to implement it. I don't really know what the changes are, so lets hold off on the new ATR section now so we don't have to do a bunch of work twice.

In the meantime, can we think of a sticky thread we can post alerting folks to the difference and post it in the appropriate ATR sections now? Is there a best place for the Tri-Band threads to exist currently? I mean least worst current ATR section. If there is a best place for the time being, are there other threads that should be moved there?

Let me know and I'll work with you on sticky language, posting them, moving threads, posting PSA's, etc. to get the word out.

Cheers:)

Ack, I read this on my phone a week ago and forgot to respond.
I should probably know what you mean by "ATR", but I don't...
There really isn't any "least worst" section. The VM, Boost, and Sprint sections are all about the same in terms of separation and confusion.
Ideally, there would be a thread stickied in the main Galaxy S3 forum regarding it if a subforum isn't possible.

What "structural changes" are you talking about?

ATR= all things root
Sorry, sometimes I revert to shorthand on forum term. Gmash is right, All Things Root.:oops:

We've often had threads that help users identify which samsung Galaxy S version they own due to the necessity of having different hardware for the various global networks they operate on. I've seen them for the S2, S4, S5 etc., but was unable to find one for the S3.:(

To go back to my original question about the best All Things Root section or the least worst, is there one? We can put stickies in the other two ATR sections as well as the general forum letting folks know where to go as well as move threads and posts to the best ATR section.

If we keep 710T devices in all three ATR sections, Google will keep sending people to all three sections via search results. If we get them all in one place, with some stickies to act as traffic signs, we can get the discussion in a single place. People looking for help will all end up in the same place coming in from search engines. I should help mitigate confusion and redundancy.

As far as the structural changes, way above my pay grade to speculate beyond an educated guess that it would leverage some of the new capabilities in XF (many of which I haven't figured out myself yet:(). I was simply asked to offer an alternative that didn't involve a new ATR at the moment.
