1.5 holdouts, what is the one app only for 2.1 that might make you do the 2.1 leak?

Google navigation is the main tempation to upgrade to 2.1 for me.

I was holding out for OTA, but finally gave in 2 days ago and rooted.

Here's what i LOVE:

Wifi thether: Now my wife plays with her iTouch in the car (online) and leaves my phone alone

Dialer One: but not just the app. Dialer one replacement of stock dialer. LOVE IT

Google NAV of course

Finally, I'm still running sense, but removed the stock lockscreen. The one included in GrdLock's all-in-one package is much smoother.

Cons: None yet....

Oh yeah, not positive yet, but I'm pretty sure my battery is much better. Been playing with it too much to know for sure.... but I suspect it is.

How do you get WiFi while on the road? Is it that your Eris connects to 3G and then becomes a Hotspot for her iPod Touch?

Yep. It actually surprised me at the decent range my little "hot spot" has... and my wife surfs on her iTouch at pretty decent speeds.

The all-in-one package from thGrdlock has wifi-tether as an extra. I'm sure you can install that if you're rooted, even if you dont need all the other stuff.

There is no one app. Right now I will update to a leak as soon as I can go back to 1.5 if I choose. For right now, I won't root, but I'll think about it after June if we don't have 2.1 by then. Most likely I'd wait until the end of the year.

I'm interested in 2.1, but 1.5 is working well enough, and I don't want to risk not getting warranty support if something breaks.

I don't think a specific APP would make me upgrade, right now it would be the speed and supposedly better battery life. I don't think even Google Navigation would make me upgrade to 2.1 as I really don't need it. But the speed/battery life improvements are my two biggest temptations right now.

I upgraded primarily for Google Nav. (I almost never get lost. I just have little unplanned "adventures.") Now with 2.1 and Nav, I can choose when to have an adventure.

The promise of Google Nav was what drove me to want an Android phone. When I first got the Eris, I was told it would be "soon" that we could get 2.0 and be able to run Nav. So when the first leak came out, I jumped on it right away. Sure, there are bugs in 2.1, but 1.5 wasn't perfect either, and for me, the pluses far outweigh the minuses.

Also, Google Voice for virtually unlimited calls and unlimited texting! :)

One of the reasons I got my Eris was the USAA app.(bank) It allows you to cash a check from your phone. My work doesn't offer direct deposit so this would be great. Unfortunately I know it was 1.6 and there was another banking app that comes up when you search USAA. I found out the hard way, so the wait for 2.1 has been frustrating. Google Nav would be nice too, and any speed increase. Also my acar app isn't working and the author says it has something to do with a 1.5 bug.
