Root Deleting the lockscreen?

Can someone learn me how to delete my lockscreen? I just want that simple lockscreen with the 2 buttons. I tried the install-extras.bat in the root file in the sticky thread but it doesn't work. It tells me to reboot my phone and flash the image but the image isn't there. Helpo!

Also on a side note, I was curious on peoples opinions on the "best" running rom. Sense-able, Vanilladroid or the latest root 2.1 (which is what I'm running). What are your opinions on pros and cons to each rom?

hase apps2sd so you can install apps on the crd rather than the phone memory and has overclocking built in. i posted it already

to delete the lockscreen use root explorer to go to the /system/app folder and delete HtcLockScreen.apk

Ok Andy, I'm a pretty novice guy with this whole root business. Can you break down into steps how to flash evil eris 2 and how to delete the lockscreen.apk?

Also, is evil-eris 2 pretty stable and or faster than officialroot2.1.apk?

You want the nexus lock screen right? Where you slide the lock button to the right to unlock and the sound button to the left for sound off? To get that to work for me I deleted htclockscreen.apk in the /system/app folder.

I am also running aloysius v9 and love it, even think its better than evil eris 2.0. They both have their pros and cons, try both and see which youlike best. I simply load one, set it how I like, do a nandroid backup and load the next to compare. I will do a nand of all the roms, in case I ever want to try something out quickly on a rom I had installed before. I just rename all my nands for easy sorting.

Edit: to do a nand, boot into recovery. vol up + pwr after youve shutdown. There is an option for backup/restore. That is how you do a nand backup or restore to previous rom.

and ya, use root explorer to go into the /system/app folder and delete the apk, the default that it falls back on is the clear nexus screen. i dont know why you wouldnt want the htc lockscreen though, its solid and has music controls, the nexus LS doesnt.

best rom out there pretty much depends on what you like ..... you can tell which ones are good just by the amount of people that talk about them ....

try them out see which one fits you ....

i personally use aloysius ....but i am not one to say anything about the others as they all are good and have their own set of pluses and minuses ...

enjoy, once you get use to the process you will probably be like alot of us and trying out different roms, as you always go back to what you like (as long as you have a nand backup) .....

im setting mine up now. its supposed to take about 10 minutes for the first boot, after about 20 i did a battery pull and a reboot. trying agian. if not ill just do a nand restore and reflash evil eris 2

When you backup where does it save? On the SD card i assume, right? And when you do a nand backup does it save all your apps and configurations too or will I have to go through and reset all my preferences and reinstall my apps? I only have free apps so it's not a big deal but I would prefer to not have to go through and reinstall all kinds of apps again.

it saves on the SD card, but you dont need to know where. when you go to nand restore it will do everything for you. and it saves all of your preferences and all that so dont worry about that, and it keeps all of your apps installed. imagine it as making a copy of the exact way your phone is set up.

That is incredible! I am using evil eris 2 right now and have it all tweaked the way I like it and it is a nice rom for sure, but I am still curious to try some others.

Also, I think I will just stick with my current lockscreen as I was not aware that the Nexus lockscreen lacked music controls. I think it looks a little nicer and cleaner but I don't want to lose functionality.

So it turns out that a thread I started about how to change my lockscreen turned into a thread about how I enjoy the one I have .

once you flash a new rom you still start over, nand backups have no interaction with your phone unless you restore one of them.

so yes, yu have to reinstall them all.

Haha, I understand. It makes sense that they wouldn't carry over just thought I would ask. I think I am going to try sense-able next as I have heard lots of good things about it.

You can find all your nand backups in the nandroid folder on your sdcard. They are all named by the date you backed them up. That is not good enough for me since I had like 15 nands and needed to know which each one was. So, you can rename them to what you want, just dont use spaces. I take out the letters at the beginning of each file name and rename it with what rom is installed and also leave the date.

Also, I think it was answered up there, but restoring gives you your apps, settings and even texts back that were there when doing the backup. So once you get a rom set-up the way you like it, you can do a nand and then load up another rom and try it out. Yeah you will have to reinstall all your apps and preferences with each new rom but after a while you will be able to do that in a few minutes.
