It's hard to compete with one iPhone SKU every year, versus the dozen of Andriod phones that come out. It will never happen. But the aggregate of all Android phones can compete if they continue to improve like they have.
See with Android its not about 1 cell phone outselling or being better than the iphone. Its about choices and not having to bow down to what steve jobs thinks your phone should be and should do. If you dont like the incredible there is the Moto Droid, or the G1, or the back flip, or the N1, or the eris, or the evo..... together the Android Army will slay the Iphone in short order.
Very true on how they strain to pretend (they wouldn't betray apple for several reasons, $$)
Good analogy!! Apple has always been that way for me though. The computers are for the technologically less inclined. I call them Dumb Computers, or Art Computers.
It doesn't surprise me that the iphone won the Controls/UI/Ease of Use round. Of course it's easier to use, you can't customize anything on the iphone. I can set my Incredible up in a thousand different ways, but when you buy an iphone, Steve Jobs sets it up for you and says "here ya go, this is what your phone gets to look like."

"It's been said many times before, but the ease of use of the iPhone is unmatched. To riff on the Geico commercials, it's so easy a caveman could do it."
This is the kind of people they have reviewing - so sad!!
They tied "sexiness" round despite it being smaller, sleeker, and better display... weird huh.

How can the Incredible be the Editor's Choice Award winner, but be in second place? That seems sort of odd - do they not believe the editor? Did the editor not edit this article? Something weird is going on here.

that's some of that straining I was talking about.
Truth be told: the iphone isn't even in the same class as either the Incred or the N1.
I've seen nothing to show me the next iphone is in the same class as these either.
Like I said the iphone is Bose: it's for the masses who don't know any better. it's a shame outfits like CNET engage in dishonesty but they have a bottom line to worry about.
They've already warmed up first place for the next gen iphone. Doesnt matter what it can and cannot do, they will place it number one again. That's why they even bother to give the N1 and now the incred victories: because they know their precious little iphone will be installed the winner again. Notice I said "installed". Because the iphone cannot win a fair fight and must be installed because it cannot win on it's own.

why would a junk third place phone(iphone) even be listed at all? And where is the N1? That list is more about who paid cnet than which phone is best, and what the hell is up with the bb 9700 being on the list lol.
I like how they give the iphone the win in the Web Browsing category even though it doesn't do flash like the incredible and my incredible's web browser is much faster than my brother's iphone.

Umm they just say its their best five. Not their top 5 which would suggest a ranking. they did not assign any of the phones a ranking. And notice the order. Its listed alphabetical by brand.
Apple Iphone 3GS HTC Droid Incredible Motorola Droid Palm Pre RIM Blackberry Bold.
