typing-predictive text double space

After the recent update, the predictive text above my keyboard, when I press it, it'll auto space twice. For example (before update)
I like chocolates
(After update)
I like chocolates
Somehow it's not showing here. But there's double space beteern words and I have to delete the extra space. This only happens when I pressed the predictive text. Please help

Unfortunately I cannot help however I and 1 other Note 2 user I know are experiencing the same problem. This is the second time in a row I've had a Samsung update that has caused the phone to behave as worse as before.

Since the 4.4.2 update I have also experienced this issue. In the end I have switched to the free Swiftkey Keyboard.

I contacted Samsung and they have confirmed they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix but could provide no timescale.

You guys could just use a different keyboard. I use Swiftkey and have no problems. I have the latest update.

Same problem, and thanks for the advice to switch keyboards, but I like my current keyboard, and I feel like if it worked great before, they should just put it back. I hope they do so soon.

Same problem. This stinks. I need my Note 2 for business. I'm not interested in stopping after each word to delete the extra space .

Same here and it's been a couple of months with no fix from Samsung, probably because this is now a 2 year old phone.
Big mistake Mr Samsung, as a lot of these phones will be coming out of contract just as you are working at pissing off current owners.
Apple are starting to look good, they support phones for many years. If I change my phone, I will also change the household to Apple, so that's 4 phones and 3 tablets.

Actually Samsung already announced the lollipop (Android 5.0) update for the Note 2.

I still don't see the reason to not just another keyboard whose features and predictive algorithm outstrips the default Samsung keyboard.

Well there is also the fact that this doesn't seem to be a global problem (since my Note 2 on 4.4.2 doesn't have this double space problem using the Samsung keyboard). Which means it could be a carrier firmware problem since they do tinker around the firmware before releasing it to their subscribers. Contract acquired phones tend to get all the bugs because of this carrier interference on the firmwares (locking them, adding and changing stuff in the system partition, etc). Although for what it's worth, i have received 3 updates since November. None of these changed the Android version and the summary only says bug fixes. Are you saying you received ni updates in the same period?

I won't tell you to not go for Apple, it's your choice, and for all the flak they get from Android users, they have good devices. Just remember any app you bought on Android needs to be bought again. Devs don't usually transfer licenses. However you won't have to contend with the carrier interference and bloatware.

As far as I can tell, the update for the Note 2 should roll out by March. However, your carrier may choose to delay the update or tp not release it at all. The phones which aren't tied to carriers are sure tl get updates though.

My Note2 is not carrier branded at all. Put's the problem right at Samsung's door.
I don't use many apps, and I will gain the ability to block permissions as I choose. I noticed that to install Swiftkey, you have to grant them access to your USB storage, all your accounts, your phone network connection, your wi-fi connection etc etc. Just for a keyboard? No thanks.

Apple approved them, and Swiftkey is on iOS too. But yeah, they are required. They can't save new words or the dictionary, sync between devices (the dictionary) so any saved word is available on both tablet and phone, etc. So yeah, those permissions really are needed.

You can try Swype. That keyboard is even older than the commercial version of Android OS itself, and is run by a trusted company. Nuance actually made the software for fingerprint readers on several laptops by HP and Toshiba. It has almost all of the same features as Swiftkey, and same permissions though.

I had thought you had a carrier branded phone since you mentioned contracts. Most phones acquired through contracts with a carrier are carrier branded anyway.

I bought my Note2 outright, but most people buy on a plan. Most plans are 2 years. The Note2 was released late 2012/early 2013 depending on availability, so the maths isn't good for Samsung, but it's just a peek into the window of the problems they are having with buyers leaving in droves for Apple. I am not an Apple fan club member, but I do appreciate the solid support they offer and they allow you more control over your own device. As much as I like Samsung hardware, having G00gle harvesting all my information through Android is also now a turn off. As I don't use many apps, I would be keen to check out Tizen, but no idea if it will ever get to any decent model phones.

A couple of things

1. Choosing Apple over Google is simply choosing who harvests your info, so I don't see that as a big issue.

2. As for support, Nexus phones gets support for more than two years, but for other manufacturers like Samsung and Sony, it's a bit of a hit and miss. Samsung supported the S2 for nearly 3 years, and looks like the Note 2 may follow suit with the official announcement for Android 5.0 to be released for it. However, for non-Nexus flagships, Google only requests for an 18month support at least, so I see where you get the support duration argument. If you plan to stick to Android, a Nexus would probably be your best bet for extended support.

3. Yes I doubt Tizen will see flagship level phones outside Korea. However you can still also consider the newer Windows and Blackberry models, if you don't use apps a lot. They may be more to your liking.

My Note 2 running on the 4.4.2 version and after last weeks update my predictive text has been double spacing as well. I saw that you noted about using the swiftkey keyboard, I don't even have that keyboard as an option. Is this a keyboard that should be downloaded from the app store?

Just had an update from Samsung, they ignored this problem, so I guess we are stuck with it for the next 6 months.

Will probably order an iPhone and iPad tomorrow, then once I am happy convert the rest of the family over.

It's a bit sad to see Samsung leave their loyal once customers up shit creek.

App purchases are minimal and aren't a consideration.

I just want a product that works and is supported in a timely manner.

In a couple of days, this problem will have been around for 4 months, and ignored by the most recent update. Keep in mind that this was a problem introduced by Samsung, not something that has been unknowingly in existence for a long time, they have a serious obligation to fix it. Yet they don't.
So in effect, Samsung are showing scorn to those people that bought their flagship product only 2 years ago.

That just peeves me off, and so converting to Apple will be for 2 reasons.

1) Because they have a rock solid product that they support. A friend of mine with an old iPhone 4 is still supported and a happy user.
2) Buying Apple hurts Samsung the most. They are losing market share to Apple rapidly, yet they don't understand the simple fact of maintaining customer loyalty.

In essence, Samsung's own actions have turned me from a loyal supporter, to a frustrated ex-client - almost a hater.

I know they don't care about this one user turning against them, but that too is symptomatic of the bad culture that exists from the top management levels down.
