Anyone else looking forward to this phone??

My wife wants to get this phone. I have a G1 and see no point updating to a phone that is going to be obsolete within 3 months of it's release because of it's underpowered processor and small screen. I really hope TMobile comes out with a high end phone this fall.

Obselete? In 3 months? and you figure this because it doesn't have a snapdragon processor you think this phone will become obselete? in what way? the AT&T backflip is obselete, This is not even close to being as bad as backflip. This phone might even be better than my BH2 with the BH_Man Custom Rom. My Behold 2 is better than a G1, and Droid, MT3G, Moto Cliq, Legend, Desire, Aero, anything except for Backflip is better than G1. Compared to any other Android Device G1 is wayy out of date and "obselete" and 3.5 is small now? oh so what the hell do you call Xt's screen size? its 2.8, This Android Phone beats your G1 in many categories. Although however I do agree that T-Mobile needs to be more competitive with Android and get better devices but this is a good device

I played with it yesterday. My coworker (T-Mo) got one and I have to admit that I think it's pretty sweet. Keyboard is fantastic and overall I think the phone is going to be sweet. The keyboard actually feels kind of like a sidekick I think but obviously a smaller. It is spread out though really nicely. Scrolling and overall quickness seems really good and smooth. I didn't get to play with it for very long so I can't really give any more information that that. With that being said I will still keep my Nexus...:D

And @dasudevil: The Even More Plus plan is a lot cheaper anyways. Even if they didn't tell you about not getting upgrades (I always do) I know they told you it was a no contract plan and well you should know that phones at discounts are with a contract... :p

Will this phone really be able to handle Live Wallpapers and Flash in a few months when Flash is available? Maybe, but I doubt it. This phone is a mid-level phone and is incrementally better than a 2 year old G1. The processor is running at 600 MHz compared to the G1 running 528Mhz. The screen is slightly larger at 3.4 inches compared to 3.2 inches. Is it better than my G1? Yes. The built in flash for the camera is nice as well as the extra screen size and an actual headphone jack. From a performance standpoint, I bet I could achieve the same performance by rooting my phone if I wanted to. By comparison the droid and incredible are both running 3.7 inch screens with faster processors. This phone is not worth spending $200 to upgrade from a G1. If it had the Droid or Incredible specs than maybe.

T-Mobile has still not released anything to compete with the Droid, the Incredible or the EVO because this phone can not.

Doesn't the Droid also run a 600 mhz processor like the Slide?

YES IT WILL! The phone comes stock with 2.1 of which will have added support for flash and live wall papers are already a given with 2.1 and If you have been watching the news lately Nexus 1 of which verizon and sprint will NEVER see btw destroys droid and evo it will be one of the first 2.2 Froyo droids.... and is said to run 450% faster! Adobe employees already have froyo is how its known. Of which as you know means its soon to go live. The MT3G is much cleaner than the G1.

I am a Tmo Sales Rep and I just got mine. And no it doesn't do live wallpapers but it does do flash. granted watching a video wasn't the best but I could go to full flash sites. YAY! for ads lol. I really like this phone it took care of most of the problems I had with android has great facebook and twitter integration. I have loaded this bad boy tons of apps played games like toon wars and raging thunder no problem. The layout on the physical keyboard feels real roomy compared to the Cliq and more comfortable than the G1 because of it not having the chin. The senseUI widgets are awesome. friend stream and leap are done well too. when u get a chance check this one out it runs smooth and has 2.1 what more do ya really need?

Your correct. We are a lot cheaper. They did say no contract. O well. If we really have too we will sign up under me to save money. WE have been with them for more then 8 years so there has to be something we can do. :p If she has to get the slide ill be picking up the Nexus.

Processors for MT3G Slide and Droid are both 600 mhz, but that doesn't mean they are equal. Droid has the TI OMAP3430 and the MT3G Slide has the ARM11. I bet the Droid has a better graphics processor. Sorry, but it's true.

But I played with the MT3G Slide a little and it's sleek. Not any thicker than the MT3G.

Too bad optical pads are worthless, just like scroll balls. I watched a guy try to play catch the rat in Chrono Trigger on his Droid Eris and it was an epic failure. Dpad on Droid, Cliq, and Behold 2 are awesome.
