Handcent with the Incredible

in my brain
A lot of people complained about how Handcent lags and/or slows down their phones. I haven't seen any negative posts with it on the Incredible yet.

How does everyone like it on the Incredible so far? Does it lag or slow down your phone in any way?

I haven't run into any issues yet, but I've only been using it for a few hours.

I really enjoyed Handcent on my Eris. Then after an update, ads started showing up in the settings. After that it seemed really glitchy to me, force closes, double message deliveries, message not sent errors. So I tried out Chomp;

For those curious about Chomp on the Incredible,
I paid the 3 buck to get rid of the ads, (hate those things, plus these developers deserve a drink on me)
First off great support, the developer has emailed me every time within a few minutes of any questions.
They have a great widget.

I like the quick reply you can integrate into the search button. Very easy to quick reply.

I've only noted one glitch. Sometimes when you quick reply in Chomp the auto correct doesn't always happen.

The settings is where Handcent is superior for now. There is no way to customize individual contact settings as in Handcent. For instance in Handcent you can change the color of icon for each contacts text message as well as the conversation screen. I'll be back when the vibrate works all the time (incredible issues according to forum) and the above hang ups are fixed.

For now there is a compromise between features and ads. I'm not loyal to either at this point and whoever can supply all the features without ads will get my money or patronage in the future.

I really liked Handcent but had to uninstall after about a week because it was giving me an error message whenever I tried to send a picture text. Once I would add the picture file, it would automatically go back to my inbox and I would get a "message saved to drafts" message. There's not drafts folder that I could find. When I was able to successfully add the pic, once I sent the text, it would give me a "generic network error" notification and the text wouldn't go through. This error doesn't happen on the stock message app. Once that's fixed, I'd be happy to reinstall.

I had it for a few days and uninstalled it. I had to open it twice everytime. What I mean is, I would open the icon and read my text.....no problem. Then I would have to open the top drawer and open it again just to get rid of the icon that shows I had a message at the top.

I now use the stock SMS app. It works fine.

Chomp & Handcent are both miles ahead of the stock messaging app. I used handcent on my Eris & then my Droid, but ever sense they fixed the FC issue with Chomp, I've been using it on my Inc and love it. If your looking for something you can customize, with Chomp you can change anything and everything, it is extremely customizable. I've been using it for a week now and have not run into any issues as of yet.

Was 3G enabled? It's required for MMS messages.

It was, and still had the problem.

I also tried uninstalling/reinstalling and didn't help. I'll try again another time. For now, I'm ok going back to the stock app for a little while. Might check out Chomp.
