Root 'Download Unsuccessful'

I recently upgraded to a rooted 2.1 system and all worked well for about a week, including use of the Market. But now I can't download anything from the Market at this point. I've tried every solution I've seen on this and other forums, but nothing has solved the issue. I've tried rebooting through recovery, pulling out the battery, starting Google Talk (apparently that helps with other phones), checked the 'okay to download third-party apps/unknown sources' mark in settings, and cleared the cache out of every application. I've uninstalled every application I've downloaded in the last 3-4 days.

However, I can't find the Market app to clear the cache - would seem like if I cleared the cache from the Market app, that might do the trick. I remember seeing it as an manageable app in 1.5, but it's not showing in 2.1.

Is the Market app in 2.1 hidden somehow? I've used Root Explorer, ASTRO and the stock apps manager but none show the Market program as an application.

Also, are there other suggestions I haven't tried?

The reason it's an issue right now is because I removed the mms.apk program (moved it to the SD card, but it won't re-install -- tried ASTRO and Root Explorer) and was using Handsent SMS exclusively for texting. But Handsent had some problems so I uninstalled it and was about to re-install it but now I can't successfully download anything from the Market. So, I have no texting ability right now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I gotsa have my texting!

Thanks.

I feel your pain sir. My wife bought the moment last night (still on 1.5) and have been having the same issue. We tried all the recommendations you mentioned here minus the recovery option and even tried clearing the market cache and still have the issue. If anyone else is having the issue then we could say this is a problem with sprints network. We already have plans to goto the sprint store and make them fix it sense the phone is not even a day old. (I know good luck with them right?! lol)

Yes -- good luck! I've never had a problem with the Market on my Moment, until about two days ago. Your issue might clear right up - with a new Moment. Still not sure what my issue is, and wondering how many texts are starting to pile up ...

do you have a data connection? if you go into menu > settings > about phone > phone status - does it give you the correct username and have a PRL listed? you may need to reboot > update PRL then update profile...

other than that... :-\ good luck?

It was funny, I was trying to get the market working while we were on our way to the sprint store, kept failing. We got to the store, signed in, tech guy walks up and the first app he tries to download worked. My god they were better then I ever thought. Needless to say I think it was just a coincidence and that it just wasn't provisioned all the way yet.

I've got this same problem after updating to 2.1 and rooting it. The market force closes when I try to download something. Ive tried updating the PRL and I get an error. Profile updated, tho. I've also done the streaming fix because I've heard that could be the culprit , too, but no go still. Any more ideas? Maybe just a bug in 2.1 that I need to wait out?

edit: BTW, it's been like this since i updated to DD10

Did you try to update your network profile (not the PRL)? Don't know if it will help, but it is worth a try. I found this thread with instructions. The thread talks about updating the PRL, but if you read it all, you'll see where it discusses the network profile. Link: http://androidforums.com/samsung-moment/65963-manually-updating-prl.html

I have been unable to download for almost a week now. I continually get a "download unsuccessful" message. I can't even download the update 2.1 for the Droid. I deleted the cache for the market to no avail. I have tried everything else recommended here. I even attempted the factory reset and could not complete because the System Clear service is not available. Whatever that means. PLEASE HELP!!

I had the same problem on My Moment. I couldn't update any apps. Even though I had 175MB left and the update was 648KB it said internal memory was full. I ended up doing a hard reset and it didn't fix the problem (I think because I just used My Backup to restore the data) but after going to manage apps, and filtering to all then clearing the data I was good to go. What a pain, I wish this was in here 2 days ago when I went to do all this, would have saved me the trouble of the hard reset.
