Help Moto 360 System Update thread

I had the bright-dim-bright-dim problem too. A reset did not correct the problem, but I did fix it.

I turned BT off on my phone.
Did a factory reset.
Deleted both Android Wear and Moto Connect from my phone.
I reinstalled Android Wear. I told it to forget my watch.
Turn BT back on, established a new connection to the watch.

Corrected the problem.

Hi
Thanks for replying, reading through various forums people from the UK are changing the faces, so they must have the latest version. I have now even tried syncing it to my daughters tablet to make sure it wasn't my phone causing the problem, but it made no difference. Seems I'm the last person to get the update, just my luck, will have to decide if I can wait or return it to Amazon. Never had this problem with my LG watch!!

Marc, things like watchmaker will not run on 4.4 any more.

Steve.. the factors that need to be met seem to be;

a) Watch is connected to phone and phone has functioning data

b) Watch is charged over %80.

c) Android wear on the phone (Tablet would work too I guess.. again, data connection a must) is the very latest.

At this point you should be able to manually invoke the update by going to the about screen on the watch and hitting the update button.

Interesting, I thought one could "invoke" an OTA by selecting the update option.

Granted, I am (very) new to the Moto 360 and maybe it works different than a phone? But, on any phone I have ever owned, I can select the Update option and it will update if there is an update available (screwed myself more than once doing this BTW)....

Would like to know more about how Wear Updates work, if anyone knows.........

you are welcome to email google if its important to you to hear from the horses mouth so to speak, but unless your device has been flagged from the google infrastructure, no amount of checking for updates on your device will force anything. those times you have manually checked, and had a update waiting, your device was already green-lit for the ota.

in terms of "wear updates" what do you want more info on? they update just like any other device running android. they get an update, you see it on your watch face, you install it. there are youtube videos to show this.

the watch must be 80% charged to actually install the update.

So, I have read some things online stating the moto 360 already has WiFi, always on Apps, flick to scroll through cards, etc with the 5.0.2 update. But, then I have read some things saying these aren't coming until 5.1 update.

So, does the Moto 360 have WiFi support already? If so, how do I find the setting to turn it on??

Those features are coming in the update. Not available yet. The 360 does have the WiFi radios but again they are unusable until the update hits.

on my moto360 5.0.2, when you swipe all the way from the left, I'm wondering if the 2 buttons on the left do anything. They appear to be wifi and clicking on them either make them solid white or it goes back to being "empty"

Can anyone explain or send me a link with info?

Edit:
Actually when i press it, on my phone the left bottom icon turns on or off the phone's hotspot. The top right icon turns on and off the phone's wifi.

Okay, so turns out I was absolutely wrong in my thinking. I am used to VZW phones and this is my first watch. With VZW, if you manually check for the update (during rollout) then you get the update.

Not that I didn't believe you, but I decided to try checking for the Moto 360 5.1.1 update when I hear it was rolling out today and it did not "invoke" an update.

Lesson learned.... Now to wait for my watch to tell me I can start using WiFi...
