I've seen a lot of people ask about Step by step guides on rooting their Icon, I almost was one of them, but I found a method that works.
Step 1: Enable Development Options. in this phone by default it is a hidden menu in the Settings. To Enable it you need to select "About Phone" in the settings menu. Where it says "Build number" you want to tap the screen, the build number will flash each time you tap, after three taps the phone should show a message saying "You have four more taps till you become a developer." and then after a total of seven taps it will say "You are now a developer."
Step 2: Now that you are a developer. [easy enough right? and some people go to school to become a developer.] You should see a new menu item in the settings with a green icon containing "{}" inside of it. This is where you will find the option to turn on USB Debugging. Go ahead and turn that on.
Step 3: Download this handy tool. ROOT Genius - Android Oneclick Root Tool it is called Root Genius. This tool will install the drivers you need for the computer to communicate with the phone via ADB, and then let you root the phone.
Step 4: Run the newly downloaded Executable. And plug in your Phone. it should detect your phone and let you press a single button to root your phone. WARNING! Do not unplug your phone while it is working. The program will tell you when it is done.
Step 5: ????
Step 6: Profit!
Afterwards~
Now that you are rooted there will be a new application on your phone that is meant to give root permissions to the apps that need them, you will want to install a replacement for it such as "SuperSU" as well as will want a root capable file browser such as "Root browser" to give you access to the system folder where you can then delete bloatware apps, and the like.
WARNING DO NOT DELETE THINGS UNLESS YOU KNOW IT IS SAFE TO DO SO! YOU COULD REALLY SCREW YOUR PHONE UP!
