Got my Game Gripper today.

I got a black with green buttons. I really like it. I can control games as good as as gameboy, DS or PSP. The only problem is it tends to slip down for me sometimes.

So besides emulators anybody know of any games that work well with this?

Have you had a chance to play Streetfighter 2 SNES version? I was wondering how the game gripper performed doing some hadokens and shoryukens.

I got a Game Gripper too, and I was surprised at just how well it works. I tried a few SNES games, and they worked great! I wonder just how long it would be before it wears down the buttons on the keyboard though.

Mine came in yesterday, and it works well. Unfortunately, it looks like complete crap. The buttons are rough, cloudy, don't match each other, and look like the were made with a child's hammer. The rubber itself looks like it was cut out with garden shears.

Some co-workers wanted to see it when it came in, and truthfully, I'm embarrassed to show it to them.

It does work well though.

Hmmm...mine came in this week, and looks great - black with orange buttons. My only issue is that some of the keypad combos seem to be shortcuts on the droid, and when I'm playing, a search window will pop up.

Can you all post pics of yours so I can see the diff color combos with the black rubber ones? I'm still contemplating on when scheme I like better. I think I'm going to get the black rubber with blue buttons though. I wish you could mix and match like the GG on the Engadget review (not that specific scheme, just an example).

I finally got my game gripper, and all I can say is I am pretty disappointed. The manufactoring process or the end result is sub-par. Granted, it was $18.99, but for what it is, I would have expected a better end product.

I got the black pad with the red buttons.





The first pic shows the imperfections in the buttons.

The second one shows the poor finish on the D-Pad.

The third shows the back, and the crappy job of cleaning up the buttons. I am sure if I used it as is, the buttons would gouge the hell out of the physical keyboard.

My question, is this the common end result everyone else is receiving? I did get a email saying that the company was changing manufacturers, so I wasn't able to get the Glow In The Dark buttons as I had originally requested. Maybe this is just the new manufacturer issue?

edit: Oh, just noticed the d-pad isn't even the same color as the rest of the buttons...WTF?

I haven't used it at all yet. I debating on either sending it back, or at least filing down the back of the buttons before using it.

With quality like those pics above, I would send it back asap. Thats just unacceptable for a product that you paid above $15+ for.

I've been playing street fighter II and I have no trouble jumping diagonal and throwing fire balls and other special moves. Build qulity seems fine to me. the thing does what it does well and that's what matters most.

He does say up front that there are imperfections in the material used, which helps drive down cost.

Pushing the d-pad bars at same time should work. Left & down for diagonal would result in the expected direction. Works with KB.

How can you be so critical and not even used it yet? Function is more important (IMO) than aesthetics. Then again if plastic/rubber flash is getting in the way, it may need some trimming.

Try it, if you are a gamer, the aesthetics will be greatly offset by gameplay

You have to remember that these are being made by one person..most likely at their home. You are not going to see factory quality here. What you will see is the result of someone having made their own design, making the molds most likely by hand plus hand tools, pouring melted plastic into them, and finally assembling the finished product.

I would say these are worth the price. There is a significant cost in all the materials involved to produce these, especially the material and effort into the molds. There is also compensation due for the time and effort it takes to hand make and assemble each one.

I have ordered one, and I would expect to see any of the "flaws" mentioned in this thread. If there are rough edges, I'll trim them..no biggie. If there are mold marks, or swirls/bubbles in the plastic, no biggie there either. As long as it clips on and stays decently, and lets me play my games as if I had a real game pad(Its intended purpose), I'll be happy. I'm sure by all the reviews out there that it will do just that.

Main thing I have to say is a big Thank you to the creator for putting the time and effort into a very useful product

I was asking more if this was more of the exception versus the norm of the products delivered. I was just a little surprised, especially when any pics or videos I have seen of the product have looks exceptional.

I highly doubt the creator is cranking these out by hand, or most likely not still. It is simply enough to send out the specs for the buttons to a shop to be formed. Cost savings, bubbles, etc aside, I just thought the mold marks left showed a lack of attention to detail and emphasis on shipping out the best quality product.

Regardless, I got impatient, and filed down the flaws. I played some Super Punch Out for about half an hour, and then tried out Goonies and Mega Man 4 for the NES for about a total of an hour.

The product does perform well, so I guess I am happy with function over form.
