Root Stop OTA

there is a file manager that can be deleted totally, I thought that I had bookmarked it, but alas, can't find it right now.

ConfigUpdater is one that I turned off before, but it did not stop the forced update.

Samsung Updates is one that I would investigate... just rename it, do not delete it.

System Updates is a very likely candidate, I would just rename it.

Havent tried the fotokill.apk kinda hate to install apps to handle other apps. My phone doesn't have a system updater or samsung updates, I did freeze one called SDM 1.0 That was supposed to do it. On my Rezound I just renamed the downloaded update to .bak and that stopped it. Can that not be done? Where is the file saved on this phone?

I found this:
If you have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 you can delete these two files ‘fota.client.apk’ and ‘fwupgrade.apk’ with root explorer in system/apps. If you get an error that “filesystem is write protected, just make sure while using root explorer click on R/W button at the top. If you have installed an stock rooted odexed version, you can also include these two files ‘fotaclient.odex’ and ‘fwupgrade.odex’. You can also use this features if you have Titanium Backup by freezing or deleting them eventually.

  • Run the ‘Root explorer’ app
  • Mount /system as read/write
  • Navigate to /system/app/
  • Rename or delete these fota.client.apk’ and ‘fwupgrade.apk’
  • You can also delete these ‘fotaclient.odex’ and ‘fwupgrade.odex’.
  • Reboot
Neither of these show up in titanium backup but the fwupgrade.apk does show in root explorer.. no foto.client tho..
