Metro PCS - Major Changes

I mean I get that. The processor choice was weird. Other than that, the other specs does make make it midrange, albeit lower midrange. HTC makes weird choices nowadays.

Show me an introduced July 2015 phone (name brand) with lower specs then this?
-Quad-core 1.1 GHz Cortex-A7
Adreno 304

storage 8 GB, 1 GB RAM , 8 MP main camera
battery 2000mAh

Im just saying, you cant have a medium, without a small and large?
If this is considered mid-range, what HTC is below it for 2015?

Seems like the industry wants to call everything "mid-range" so they can slap a higher price tag on it

Blu studio 5.5 C. All it really needed was a change in processor really. That would actually helped it.

Only way how I even remembered that is because my mom still has it in her drawer.
I think at the time I was in between Samsung Admire n LG Esteem...took a Herculean effort to remember this-forget about specs, or how/what I tweaked- I'd have to Google.

Later this year Android M arrives-by next year at this time I'll've forgotten almost everything about present phones.

Anyone know when the Samsung Grand Prime will be released on Metro?
Never probably. Grand and Win series dual SIM Samsungs are only officially sold in Asia AFAIK, places like Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Malaysia, China, etc.

Although having said that, the Galaxy Mega started with Asian distribution only and then became available in the US, although only single SIM. The Mega is all about having a very large screen but without a premium flagship price tag, and its specs are quite modest.

I've given up hoping for tmo or metro to release anything dual SIM, esp. with the international features now available.
Frankly I don't think you'll ever see a dual SIM phone being sold by a carrier in the US, nor the EU for that matter. Because phones are usually locked and sold with a carrier contract. Which doesn't happen in many Asian countries. Non-carrier, unlocked, SIM free phones, maybe available.

The Grand Prime is currently being sold by T-mobile, Cricket and other carriers in the U.S.

I heard it will be available thru Metro PCS but wasn't sure when the release date would be. If anyone has any information please let us know....

Seen these at a metro store in California and I'm wondering if these are only sold at this particular metro pcs store or if other metro pcs stores have them as well. Would any of you buy them? The prices seem a little to high considering there are some relatively better options.

It was just that metro store. Metro doesn't officially carry those devices. Huawei actually sells them unlocked on their own website: http://www.gethuawei.com

In case someone wants the goodies that come with the Windows Lumina 640 phone, today is the last day of the Microsoft promotion. It offers a year of $10 a month of Skype Credit , Office 365, and a big chunk of OneDrive space. MS is being vague about when the phone get upgraded to Windows 10 but says it will eventually happen. And, early this month Microsoft announced they were to Lay Off 7,800 people mostly in their phone division, so who know where the future of Windows phones is.

I picked one up. I'm missing the selection of Apps that I'm used to from Android. The bus prediction app I'm used to isn't there. A second unique important app is missing. Also missing all the Android and Google features, Chrome, Docs, etc, & YouTube lacks features. So although I'm experiencing significant frustrations, I think with the Skype credit this was a cheap $39 way to try out an alternative platform.

Thanks for the info.
Store manager being proactive...probably sick of seeing diminished foot traffic because of the dearth of Metro stock right now.

First model not worth mentioning.

Second is a beast: spec-wise beats all present metro models in almost all categories- from 6+" screen size to camera& graphics to sound + FM radio to battery to USB host.
Only knocks are no NFC & no 32gb storage + only 2gb RAM...for that price...
Sadly, all goes to waste at ONLY 4G.
I wouldn't pay more than $20 for a 4G only phone.

Thanks for passing along your experience. I agree that it is a cheap way to try a different market/platform. If one were to use Skype, Office and/or OD, this works out very well in their favor, regardless of how they feel about the phone.
Agreed. And there's a trick for converting that MS package into a regular one( 5 computers + 5 tablets would EACH get that package) for like $9 more.
EVEN BETTER: stack multiple such packages(each Windows phone & tablet + some laptops come with such a package)-to extend entire package multiple years out-BEFORE the conversion.

Network Specs for that phone are:

Technology GSM / HSPA / LTE
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - MT2-L03
4G bands LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 17(700) - MT2-L03
Speed HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE Cat4 150/50 Mbps
GPRS Yes
EDGE Yes

Also, although it doesn't have 32gb for storage, it can take up to a 64gb sdcard.

I was going by the Metro sign...only says 4G, not 4G LTE.

I would bet it could also handle 128/256/etc. It's just nice not to have to use a card at that price point.

It will be interesting to see if Android and IOS devs port their apps over to Windows Phone when 10 get released to the mobile devices. That would go a long way to making WP usable.
