Help Yahoo Mail

Hello
I just want to confirm that all I have to do is create a new mail account enter my yahoo name and password and the device does the rest? I don't need to upgrade and buy the yahoo plus mail account?
I saw a youtube video but the port settings are different then what the device automatically did for me.

Also is there a way to delete mail just on the handheld and not the server too?

Here is how to set up free yahoo email account:

- Go to mail icon
- Add account
- Enter email address in email address filed (name@yahoo.com)
- Enter password at password field
- Select MANUAL SETUP not next
- Select IMAP
* username= name@yahoo.com
* password = yourpassword
* IMAP server= imap.mail.yahoo.com
* port = 143
* security = none
* optional = blank
- Select NEXT

The set up will prompt you to sign in. You will then be taken to the SMTP settings which only prompts you for address which is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com. leave the port as is. Then select NEXT. Sign in. Name your account and that’s it.

But how does that compare to when I set up my yahoo mail account automatically through the device itself, meaning let the device do all that stuff.

If you are starting with a fresh accont thats not been established i'd go with googles gmail. Its integration is better and won'r require you to purchase a yahoo plus account to get it to work correctly. The problem with using a yahoo account without plus is that it won't retrieve emails with wifi on, it will only get them over your 3g connection. I upgraded to yahoo plus, its $20/yr but all my personal emails goto it and have for about 10 years now, so its hard for me to get a new account and inform everyone of my new addy. If i was to start one now i'd just grab a gmail account and use that instead.

465

I didn't do android.smtp.xxx... just left out android part. But either way, it should work.

I have a yahoo plus account and i'm still not getting
my mail via wifi. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I just reflashed to stock Ntelos 2.1 rom on my Hero, and used the following settings for my Yahoo Plus account. Works over wifi and network...

IMAP Server:
android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Server Port:
993

SMTP Server:
android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Server Port:
465

I had to change my yahoo password and since i have dont that I am not receiving email on my evo. I can compose and it will send. My emails stop syncing from the day i changed my password. I am getting emails at yahoo but not on my phone. Any suggestions?
