I am looking for a phone and need to know: Are verizon droid phones and the incredible in particular capable of downloading WMA DRM ebooks. These are audio books for dyslexics and blind people. I down load them to windows media on my laptop and the first time I listen I have to enter a Id and password next time I can just play them. They never expire.

That's a good question. I think it would depend on the format that they are in. If it's a format the phone will play anyway, you might be able to transfer them to the SD card and you "may" have to re-enter your ID and password.

But I think it's something you'd really have to try, since it's not a very common situation.

EDIT: Will they let you convert the files to different formats, or are they "locked"?

The files are wma files and when I check properties in windows media it tells me:
You do not have the rights to play this file
Collaboartive play for this file is not allowed
This file cannot be burned
This file cannot be synchronized
The media usage rights for this file cannot be backed up

Wow, that's pretty restrictive!

I hate it when companies do that to media that you purchased! You should be able to do what you want with it except copy and sell it.

There are some programs out there that completely remove DRM. The Digital Rights people don't like it, but they're there!
