Help Would like to get help on Cast Screen from my moto g2.

I have a Moto G2 running on lollipop. For some reason, the cast screen functionality is disabled in this. I would really like to get a work around on this.

I know that we can add persist.debug.wdf.enable=1 in build.prop, it may work.

Now the question is If we can add this line, WITHOUT ROOTING.

Any help will be appreciated and pls do keep in mind that I'm a novice to this whole thing.

I know abt Chromecast but was looking at any alternatives!!!

Is it possible to do the screen mirroring using HDMI cable connected to my Phone? If yes, Does anyone knew how to do it?

Don't want to tamper the warranty by rooting for only enabling "Cast Screen" feature!!

The Moto G doesn't have either one.

So you can't use HDMI, there are only two casting possibilities common to Android, Miracast and Chromecast, and you can't do Miracast.

And that's why I said, your only alternative is Chromecast.

Do you know anything about Flashing?

Came to know from an android forum that we can edit the build.prop by flashing without rooting.. but they haven't mentioned how to do the same?

As I said earlier, I'm just a novice and little curious to know what it really meant by flashing and How can I do it in my Moto G2. Would really appreciate for a expert opinion.

The build.prop resides on the system partition and to access anything on that you need root. Flashing anything won't make a difference, sorry.

I'm going with rooting option then..

Do you have any suggestion before I root my device?

Is it possible to unroot the device after rooting?

Does nandroid backup can restore my previous version if something went wrong(reminding the novice part again )

Is there any thread or steps that I can follow to root my device?

I know it's a lot of question, but spare me plss...

If you change your build.prop it's not going to change anything about screen casting at all.

It's not going to work.

After going on about not wanting to root, what's changed your mind?? I don't get it.

Do you have to screen cast?

Or are you under the impression that's the only way to get video to your TV?

I do have to screen cast for a presentation purpose for just 2 min.

I am able to stream video/images with iMediaShare, but the point is to show my mobile screen in TV.

Even if I can show my mobile screen in my lap will suffice, any thing you people can suggest.

You can want it to work.

I was able to mirror my screen WITHOUT ROOTING!!!

I've tried on a Moto G - it's atrocious if anything.

It doesn't work.

That's my opinion.

No offense taken - if I'd realized that decoupling the hardware with a pc was an option for you, I'd have linked you to that.

Glad you got it sorted!

It was a great experience indeed....!! The only sad part is that it took me almost 3days to sort this out but learned a lot of new thing by doing so..

Learned to root my device
Learned What's MHL
Learned to flash
Learned different adb commands
Learned that there is an option called "Developer Option and USB Debugging"
Learned that there is forum called androidforum!!

Well that's time well spend ed. Knowledge is power

So I chose Android Media.

Staff is free to try a better choice.

Thing is, we've all been so engrossed in the modern way and the proper way on this issue that maybe we've lost sight that's there no school like old school - and many of us have done this and forgotten, lured by the new definition of the problem - when every so often, that's nonsense.
