Heads up so that all of you don't F up your Incredible like I did. Not knowing any better I installed my Invisi shield on the phone while it was turned on. Didn't seem to be a problem the 1st day but shortly after the screen was permanently ****ed! The touch sensitivity was all out of wack. The phone begin to act erratically and make touch choices on its own etc. I would highly recommend as I did on my new one to have the phone completely off and leave it that way for at least 2 hours.

That sucks man. Thanks for the warning. You should be able to get a replacement for free though right?

Yes Verizon will give much praise to for thier service. Sent a new phone out the next day.

No way to recal. I hard reset the phone probably 6 times without any help. The screen seemed to be smoked. It was almost like the phone was thinking it was being pressed constantly in turn casuing the phone to lock up and make selections on its own.

I had my Invis shield installed by the guy at best buy..He did say "You need to keep it off for the next 30 minutes" But when he gave it to me it was still on...so I promptly turned it off for an hour and I have no problems..I was like why did you install it with the phone turned on and say it needed to stay off for the next 30 minutes(and only say 30 minutes when its a min of 2 hours) gahh atleast my phone is ok though.

Ya but who the hell reads directions. States min 2 hours recommend 12 hours.

Sorry about the problems, and glad Verizon swapped the phone...but hopefully now you will cross the knowledge barrier into a Type 3:)

Type 1: Doesn't know much, so they read the instructions to figure out what they are doing.

Type 2: Knows too much for their own good. Assumes they know everything they need, and ignores the instructions.

Type 3: Knows they can never fully understand everything, and returns to reading instructions so they can atleast know as much as possible.

It's a harsh lesson, but usually required to move into a type 3. For me, it was a year of hardware problems on my first hand built PC. Made a lot of mistakes, ignored instructions/manuals/how-tos/etc. figuring I already knew enough. The computer proved me wrong time and again until I finally learned better:)

I let a Best Buy rep install mine, based largely upon the recommendations here, and despite having done this sort of thing dozens of times before for my own ipods, Palm PDA's, other smartphones, etc.

He removed the battery first, and told me to keep it out of the case for 24 hours. He never said anything at all about leaving it off. I noticed that he sprayed a lot of something, but the thing was bone dry when he was done (and he did a fabulous job).

I kept it out of its case for about 16 hours, but turned it right on and have had no issues with it at all.

FWIW.. I bought the screen protectors that Verizon sells, just thinking that they would get me by until I could buy some better ones but it turns out that other than only being screen size instead of phone size, these things are great!

They were only 6 bucks for 3 I think... that was half price at the time of purchase

I agree, it's hard to tell it's on there which is really surprising since it's not a full face shield. I will probably still pick up a Steinheil when they finally get released. For the price of the VZW ones they were still worth it and at least I'll have em on hand for backup in the future.

You're screen messing up has nothing to do with leaving the phone on. I've always left my phone on when installing these. The moisture can't magically make it's way through glass to inside of the phone. As long as you don't get any moisture in the speaker hold and trackpad holes then your fine. Once you squeeze the water out you're pretty much dry.
