Underclocking Incredible during workday-save battery life?

Just wondering if underclocking my Incredible will save battery life during the day-I can't use my phone much at work-maybe when I go somewhere to pee or grab something to eat-that is about it. I wouldn't care about speed during the day..say if I underclock it to like 400 MHZ, would that save a lot of battery life? I would set it to normal once I was done with work.

If you're not using the phone and it's just idling on your desk, I don't see how underclocking will do anything for you.

Instead- I would turn off my GPS, Bluetooth and any other wireless adapaters/programs that eat up power in the background.
This means turning off auto updating on things like Facebook.

The little things add up.

Actually you can leave GPS on. It doesn't use power. Only when an app tries to actively request a location does GPS turn on, and even then only very briefly. ( 3 mins of running google sky was not enough to even bring GPS usage up on the battery usage. Even when it does come up...like using something for half an hour, you'll see the GPS was only on for a few seconds of that time. )

i already get ridiculously good battery life when the phone is idle.

Yup. I'm running a test right now where I left the usual stuff on ( Sync, Wifi, 3g ) but am remaining idle except the occasional text/call. Almost 36 hours in I'm still at 64%. You can see I'm getting almost exactly 1% usage per hour, so I'm expecting to see just a hair over 4 days...as long as I don't get hit by some time without signal anyways.

well look at that. battery life can be good. lol i'm sure i would get similar results, but i can't help using it. i can still easily go 12-16 hours on a single charge though.

Yesterday I was at work all day and barely used my phone for the first time since I got it.

It was off the charger for over 12 hours and I still had around 75% of battery when I got home.

I did do a little websurfing, made a 20min phone call, and listened to police scanner app for 30mins on my way home.

So it's not like my phone was idle all day.
