If you call them they will send you a new one for free. I've done that a few times. Takes a day or three to get but there is no charge.

If you go in I think they will activate it for you, and maybe charge you the $35 or $40 fee. They won't just give you a SIM though (at least they wouldn't give me one last time I tried).

You can get one for about $10 at an authorized store, not corporate.

I was afraid this was going to happen. Typical Verizon. Jerks.

@Suzi_Derkins, did you go to a corporate store or call? Do you have a SIM that fits from you previous active phone? They can, will and have to activate it. Keep calling, or don't leave the store until they get it done. They can use a display model to activate it and then change the SIM back to your phone. That's what they ended up doing for a LOT of N6's. They were just all proud of themselves for announcing they were all set to activate the Pure and there would be no trouble. Jerks.

@cybercruiser, what type of plan do you have? One of the new ones or an older Share Everything? Does your line discount still show on your account? Keep an eye on that (if you have one). Jerks.

I was on the $30/1Gb Share Everything plan, paying $40 per for, for 2 phones. My contract on the M8 just ran out, so, I changed to the new Medium/$45/3Gb plan for the two phones. My phone, since off contract now, dropped from $40/month down to $20/month, but, I still have to pay $40/month for the other phone until it is off contract, then it will drop to $20/month as well. I have supposed employee discount of 18%, but, it must be on a $40 plan or higher, so, the $30/1Gb plan didn't qualify. Now that I'm over $40($45/3Gb/Medium size) plan, I get the 15%, so, it's approx $36. So, really I went from $30/1Gb to $36/3Gb, so, that's $6 more, but, it went down $20 because of the new Verizon plan.

Hopefully all that makes sense??

OK, yeah, you should be fine then.

On the SE plans (old) there is a line discount if you are off contract (I get $25/line off). When Verizon was not playing nice with the Nexus 6 activations folks were not getting that discount. I just wanted to let you know to look out for it if it applied to you.

The new plans should not be an issue, they all get the $20 line charge, regardless.

Mine is on Verizon, but, I didn't have to actually activate it, I just moved my SIM.

But, now when I log into http://verizonwireless.com it says it's a non-verizon phone, and no picture of it, instead of the M8 I had before.
That is exactly what happened to me when I just did a sim swap. It also said I was using an unsupported device and all functions may not work properly.

I'm not online with the new Moto X Pure. Verizon still doesn't recognize the IMEI. Should I just do the SIM swap and ignore that Verizon claims to not support it?

I have a friend that's with the FCC, he says that IMEI numbers must go out to all carriers in the USA without fail, no matter what brand, type, model of phone. So Verizon will most certainly have, or be receiving those numbers. Accordingly, he said that Motorola in particular are very fast and good with compliance.

Ugh, yeah, that's not right! Unreal.

Does the SIM still work in your old X? I wonder if somehow it got messed up?

If it were me I'd be heading to a Verizon store and not leaving until they got it straightened out. If they can't figure it out at the store they can call for technical help. If you can't make it to a store then call CS and make it very clear that you aren't hanging up 'til it's fixed.

Something is very wrong somewhere, you should have just been able to change the SIM from one phone to the other with no trouble (besides it not showing as a recognized device online, it still should function though).
