My Deal breaker with the Note 5

I've seen outcry over the lack of an SD card slot and removable battery which is extremely justified but these don't bother me personally. I never removed or replaced my battery even though the battery life is terrible and it charges so slow. I don't really download music anymore as I mainly use online radio, and all my pictures are always backed up to Google Photos.

However the possibility of a lack of an IR blaster is what will stop me from getting the Note 5. This was a big reason why I got the S4 that I currently own in the first place and it's been a very functional feature for me for past two years. Why would Samsung just get rid of it? If this is true then I'll be getting the Note 4. It apparently has a better bettery life and I'm too attached to Samsung to venture elsewhere.

I've only used the ir blaster to fool with people in the break room at work. I really miss the removable battery, I changed my battery almost every day on my note 3. The fast charging works very well and I've used "super power saver" and it works very well.

Install the Package Disabler App and eliminate the bloat and other crap that sucks power and you'll go 18-24hrs on a single charge with normal use. Blows me away daily.

I unrooted yesterday to flash the new update/image,start out fresh & bought this app.If it works as advertised (freezing unwanted apps),it's worth its weight in gold. Gonna run stock for a week or two see how things go.
This is how things should be from ALL mfgs.
BTW,where did you here about this app? I've spent a fair amount of time in the XDA Note5 forums & haven't heard a peep about this app.Lucky for me,I keep up w/this Note5 forum,or, I may never have heard about this app. (If you'd like to start a thread/how-to for this app,I'd be more than happy to sticky it @ the top of this forum,so others can better discover this gem).

I found it on xda. There a long thread on it. IIRC it's under the Note 5 General section.

I don't miss the ir blaster as I never use it. I have all my important docs and files on my home server that only take a minute or two to download so no need for sd card slot. I also have 50GB of cloud storage through work if needed. I'm a moderate to heavy user and my Note 5 still has about 30% battery left at the end of the day. I'm very happy with the Note 5

I have had S4, HTC One, Note 3, S5 and S6 Edge and I have never used the IR blaster.

I miss the IR Blaster too but I don't miss it. Both my TV and Stereo are connected via wifi and on my network and while I've not looked, I'm sure there is a controller for them via that method. It's how roku controls their stuff too.
I think that's why they got rid of it, though maybe a bit prematurely - I know there are probably still a significant amount of brands and/or models that don't offer this functionality. I have 4 TVs total that run the gamut in terms of price range - 2 Panasonic, 1 Vizio and 1 TCL Roku TV (best buy of the bunch, that last one) and all have remote control, media serving, etc. over WiFi. Ditto the SlingBox, Panasonic Blu-ray (a/k/a dust collector), Roku, FireTV, Xbox ONE and 360, et al.

Seeing that the note 5, S7 And S7 edge didn't come with and ir blaster I've been holding out for the note 6 in hopes that Samsung will put it back in like the Micro sd card. If they don't as much as I prefer Samsung I'll go to LG which still comes with the ir blaster , removable battery and as card. All the things that made me get a Samsung instead of an iPhone.
