hey androidforum-users :)

does anyone encounter short battery life in galaxo 1.6.3.1 ?

before i was running JC4 and had about 3-4 days between my changes..

after i changed to galaxo i HAVE to charge every day!

at JC4 i did encounter the "no sleep" bug, but only when i used GPS. Right now it seems like the phone is never sleeping ?

maybe there is something wrong with the galaxo rom ..

i dont know much about it, the only thing i know for sure, is that my battery life sucks now

ive never had good battery life with any rom when background data and autosynch is enabled

i have my device on 710mhz without autosynch on and use it for music 1.5 hrs a day and get 2 days out of it.
(this is with a dim screen if im browsing)

Actually... once I stopped trying to micro-manage my memory and deleted taskiller and auto memory manager, and I turned off "Share with Google"... I'm getting the best battery life of any firmware I've used with Galaxo 1.6.3.1.

I'm at more than 48 hrs and my battery is at 44%. I almost always have wifi, autosync and gps on.

I suggest giving that a try. I was skeptical at first because those programs saved me battery life in the past, but someone on this forum suggested it, and I figured "hey I'll give it a shot"

I also have compcache and swap on, cpu sampling is at pref and I am set to O/C to 710.

i have the apn on, no auto sync, no wireless, no share with google, i'm downloading apps from the market and playing around with the phone around 1.5 hours a day, talking about 30 minutes, and the battery dies at the end of the day - around 15-20 hours.

I think it lasted longer before the 1.6.3.1 / OC (710)

and i dont have the no sleep issue currently - im checking it with spare parts / battery use widget (shortcut)

battery widgets use up battery
there must be something draining that battery.
i usually get the no sleep bug after a phone call so i bet its that

obviously with the overclock @ 710 when phone is in use then more power is needed but still ive no need to lie to you neither is the person above you. there must be either some app or not checking for no sleep properly

Offcourse ur not lying to me, I never claimed u did.
I'm just describing my galaxy's battery life.
the battery widget is just a shortcut to a hidden menu that displayes battery usage.
I always had problems with my galaxy - unresponsive, hangs, all kinds of problems. That battery issue is just another problem of that lousy device:)

I guess i'll buy a new htc in 6 months or so.
By the way , do u use a task killer? Which widget do u have on your home? I have around 10

i dont use taskiller or the widget as it keeps the phone running, its a known issue. if you use it dont use the widget and disable the notification tray aswell.

I use advanced task manager but again i dont use the widget and rarely use it to end tasks as galaxo does a good job of doing that itself
i have a reboot widget and power control widget

Hello guys,
I just need a hand in a small thing.
After updating my galaxy to the rom 1.6.3.1, I could not able to recovery google apps..
I just followed this tutorial Flash rom Galaxo 1.6.3.1 - Windows tutorial - Samsung Galaxy , but everytime I tried to restore g.apps, I received a message aborting!
Do you have any clue where I`m failing??
My phone is now without any google application (obvioulsy :) )

Thanks for the attention!

Thanks, Rasta!
Now worked almost perfect. :)
I was able to make the g.apps recovery but my phone doesn't have all the improvment drakaz made like:
- five screens,
- eclair bottoms,
- htc widgets.

My phone just have galaxo config and galaxo + settings. Should I have to do everything again?
My rom seems like a normal JC6.

What I mean you can see in this video bellow:
I thought the updating to galaxo 1.6.3.1, my phone would come like in the video, but it came like a original JC6 firmware... Nothing especial, except the Galaxo and galaxo+ settings...

The big question is "how to make my Galaxy runs like this one in the video?"

the launcher is helix launcher for donut (do a search on this forum for it and youll find it)
the icon pack is one for better cut but they dont work properly for me so i dont know what hes using
the clock is beautifull widgets
all these are apps you need tu purchase apart from helix launcher

for more home screens without helix you just press menu key when at home then click extended and you can increase the screens
helix is a nice launcher though and i recomend it

I've just been out of the country for 4 days not long after installing Galaxo and wow, the battery lasted the whole time. I've never gotten it to last more than a day and a half before.

Roaming was off (though I switched it on briefly to check the net and use the GPS), I took a few calls and got the odd text, played a game for an hour at most but otherwise the phone didn't get much usage. Still it would never have lasted a day had I been doing that in the UK. But the funny thing was as soon as I got back to the UK and background data came back on the remaining battery drained like a burst tire. There looked to be about 25% left which went in 30 minutes. When I got back I was stuck in a long customs queue so checked Facebook, added my email account (only had Gmail app set up, so used Mail to check my other account) and that was really it. I could almost see the battery gauge in the notification window draining the remaining battery drained so fast.

Was it the background data that drained it? Is there a bug in the Mail App? There's certainly something funny going on here.

background data and 3g is a big battery drain. the combination of the 2 is disastrous lol

What is background data exactly? I mean if you don't have auto-sync on, then why is it taking up so much battery?

I almost never use 3g, just switch it on when i'm browsing or downloading. For checking emails or when i'm calling I don't bother with it.

So is background data usage much worse on the Galaxy or is this an Android problem?

android
it keeps the phone running for use with market and other apps that require process with the system that run as background tasks.

everyone i know that has android gets fed up and turns it off to find the life of the battery is much increased.

dont fear though, other phones like iphone etc you cant turn this off so the damn thing needs charging everyday.

if you compare it to the a normal phone though then its a pain. however if you want extra functionality expect a battery cost
