Thought it was great!

BBC America usually plays a marathon of episodes prior to the new season...watched several of the 2014 shows on Friday night, but couldn't keep up with it all day Saturday .

I actually caught up on Season 8 over the weekend, thanks to Netflix. But I missed the episode last night.

The new series started with an amazing amount of callbacks to other episodes... And Peter capaldi is definitely the doctor now... In a way where he was nearly the doctor previously but not quite.

Anyway I know where I'm going to be next Saturday evening

Really enjoyable opener. Only annoyance was they've done the whole "the doctor is going to die" thing pretty recently with Matt Smith. Capaldi and Missy were great though

BBC America usually plays a marathon of episodes prior to the new season...watched several of the 2014 shows on Friday night, but couldn't keep up with it all day Saturday .

I caught quite a few REALLY old episodes, which I've never really seen. Only a couple of the 9th, the rest was 10th/11th/12th previously.

Saw the Davros episode with 4th(?) Dr. I see why they played that.

Wasn't really a fan of the first episode. The aspect of the story relating to the little boy was good, but a large proportion of the episode just felt like meaningless fluff before they got to the meat of the show near the end. I enjoyed the second episode a lot more, as it just had more going on.


One specific think I was wondering about is:

At the end, the doctor is musing over why the dalek 'OS' is capable of expressing mercy, and this seems to be his impetus to go back and save Davros. Could it instead be that the daleks have been 'infected' with mercy, now that they're in some way tainted with time lord-ness?

I really enjoyed that episode. I think I'd happily watch a series of The Missy & Clara adventures .

Really liked the way the "next on Dr Who" from ep 1 was designed to make you assume somethings about ep 2 that were completely wrong.

Yeah, I definitely think the time lord regeneration energy is going to crop-up in a future episode--LOL, may be years from now, of course, though... .

But I've enjoyed both episodes so far...hope the Missy character does come back at some point in time .

I'm very sure she'll be back soon, all 3 spark so well of each other I'm sure the writers must really enjoying writing for them. Plus the way the episode ends is blatantly setting something up.

Completely agree, I was sure that was were it came from, until he went back of course (cryptic enough without spoiler tags? lol)

Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey regeneration magic reasons? More likely, is that the flying daleks outside were added by the FX guys later and the writers didn't take them into consideration.

Clara is barefoot... Now when Paul was barefoot, the rumor was that he had died, and been replaced by someone else.... and when she was in the dalek the Doctor did say "I'm so sorry" )

I used to watch Dr who growing up in the 80's. On Saturday morning cartoons ran from 5am to 10am, then the sports show started on every channel but the local pbs station, it showed Dr. Who for one hour Saturday and two hours early Sunday morning.
I could never really get into it. Years later a co worker turn out to be die hard who fan boy. Everything and anything to do with who he knew. He came to work one day all excited because season 4 or 5 ???was about to launch all shift he was checking for info on when the show was going to start.
A week or so later I was at home and was scrolling through shows on Amazon Prime and came across Dr.Who. so I thought okay I will watch one episode. I think I watched the episode "blink" the one that introduced those angel things uh crying or weeping angels?? The episode seriously creep me out but got me hooked I ended up binge watching season one and later on seasons two and three.

Who creeps up on you. I started in Matt Smith era, and I've gone back and seen quote a bit since the reboot.
