Help Which screen does your phone start on after an unlock?

Random question... if you are on 1 of your 7 home screens other than the middle (main?) one, and you press power, then press it once again and proceed to unlock the phone, does Android still have up the last home screen you were on or does it automatically return to the middle one?

Thanks. I thought so, just wanted confirmation. I had my phone reboot on me on its own today, and then for some reason had this image in my head of the phone always returning to the main home screen on an unlock, even though it wasn't do that. I was clearly mistaken.
