Root CM12.1 Unofficial Beta

you could try the file listed here... http://androidforums.com/threads/phone-bricked.934140/
I think your /sns partition may be corrupted or missing???
I followed the instructions in your link and I think I bricked the phone. The phone now won't boot past the initial static LG logo. I can get into DL mode but my computer no longer recognizes the phone.

Edit: I got it to boot into TWRP. I'll see if it I can get CM to work now.

I can confirm i had similar root problems before the previous update (didn't do the newest yet), Greenify would keep going to non-root mode and I'd have to go into dev options and re-select root for apps even though it was already set to it. The previous update (not the new one) fixed the issue though. It might be with CM?

CyanogenMod looks like they're still using Koush's superuser, which hasn't seen updates in a while. The last commit is 10 months ago. I would bet on stuff they're merging from AOSP breaking things. But that's just my educated guess.

I wholeheartedly endorse using Chainfire's SuperSU, which can always* be found up-t0-date at https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/

*Chainfire recently announced CCMT is taking over SuperSU, so I'm guessing this will move some point in the future.

My experience with installing and running CM12.1 on LS740 for Virgin Mobile...

All installs done using TWRP 2.8.6.0, with an advanced wipe (everything except external SD) before any reinstall of CM12.1

1. Installed CM12.1 "Updated 9-20-2015" build linked in the OP. No problems.
2. Installed the PA-Gapps Pico "5.1-20150329" build linked in the OP. Keyboard breaks (crashes every time you request it, so you can't type or sign into the play store to update).

START OVER (advanced wipe)

1. Installed the "9-20-2015" CM12.1 for volt
2. Installed the PA Gapps build "pa_gapps-modular-pico-5.1-20150315-signed" from AFH. Keyboard works.
3. Installed the APN fix linked in the OP. Connects to carrier, 4G LTE no problem. MMS do not download in the stock messaging app.
4. Installed the "stock MMS fix" here which is listed on the APN fix page, although it appears to have been made for CM11 and not CM12/12.1. Reboot. Phone is permanently stuck looping the boot animation (until forcibly powered off by holding power button/removing battery.

START OVER (ugh)

So, I don't know if others have truly resolved the MMS issue (without getting around it by switching to Hangouts) but I have not, the stock MMS "fix" breaks both LG Volts I have tried this on.

I use textra from play store, and set as default messaging app

I understand replacing the default system messaging app with a third party messaging app is a workaround however I use CM because I'm interested in the cleanest, least bloated base system I can get so that the apps I do want run extremely well.

Does anyone have information on which third party messaging app is the least bloated and/or invasive of privacy?

Are Hulu and Plex suppose to be working on this custom firmware? I installed an older version of this in the past and remember trying Hulu and it not working so I ended up uninstalling it. I just installed the newest version and Hulu still doesn't work. Plex doesn't either. I didn't install the APN fix if that matters since I don't plan on using this as a phone just a wifi device. Youtube seems to work fine.

Anyway to fix this? A google search for "hulu not working on CM 12.1" mentions something about DRM modules not being installed for the rom.

It'll work when you guys write in the support for it. Seriously, quit bothering him about things he already knows, I'm sure it's not making him want to work any harder on it.
*Claps hands and raises Mountain Dew can* Bravo, sir. Couldn't have said it better myself! On another note, I'd love to pitch in and help fix this stuff now that my compiler machine is back up and running. It's a kernel issue, isn't it?

Why not make a rom and update it yourself? The camera tint has been discussed numerous times. You clearly never read before you flashed it. This is why developers stop developing for people all they do is complain instead of actually read before they flash something. If your a photographer, 1. The volt isnt thr best phone for you and 2. Stay on stock. But by all means instead of telling the developer ehat to do why not try to fix the green tint yourself and build a better rom. Maybe then youll see the fact you got a working camera at all shows how much work the developer put into this. Ungrateful people i swear.

Enough of the bashing, geez...
Why doesnt someone chime in on where to look for the green tint issue?
Im starting out at developing, what .lib or .so files should i be concerned with? Are there any other contributing factors that might be conflicting?

BTW All the development that has been done, i do appreciate the hard work that has been put into this. Thank you.

Camera has green tint. Please update ROM. I'm quite a photographer (kind of,). This is the cheapest phone I could find that can take decent pictures. I'm not trying to be rude, but now you can you can now update the ROM. Everything works, except the camera. This is pretty much the only good ROM for the lg volt.

I'm not ungrateful the guy below, this is still miles better than crappy lg software.
Telling a dev to update their rom there's an issue is just rude dude. Especially when it's an issue the dev has addressed and said he knows fully about. These guys don't get paid to do this stuff. Hell the only payment they get is good job. Then they read comments from people saying update this now or why doesn't this work. That makes them say screw it do it yourself if you want it done. If the dev still wants to work on this project I'm sure he will update it as soon as he can or when he feels he actually has an update for it. This stuff isn't easy at all what he did. Like I said having a working front and rear camera alone shows how much he put into it. So just relax and appreciate what you have so far. If he wants to still work on it I'm sure he will update it.

I understand the frustration. Some people dont read, enough of, what they need to. I have been dealing with the same thing in my other devices forums. BUT, redirect it. You might tell someone where to look and OUR green tint issue gets fixed. But be constructive with your criticism.
This isn't all ABC's and 123's for everyone, so a nudge can help (regardless of the repetitive comments). I'm struggling like hell to learn this at 45 yrs old, but I'm willing to try. I just need to be pointed in the right direction, like so many of our members.
Remember the words you use, just like a knife, can cut deep. And like grandpa use to say "like water on a duck, it rolls away" ;)
