Basically, nothing, and hope they release a full version at some point. At least at this point.
I pay attention whenever I see a post from you on a subject I'm interested in as you seem very knowledgeable. Interested about LG Quick Remote, and the LG VOLT LS740 being usable as a remote for the A/V equipment I have.
LS740 arrives soon and I was getting excited about using it as a Media Remote... Then I read that LG has crippled the LS740..
Stupid me told the wife... Now I have to explain to her:
A: Quick Remote for LS740 largely is for controlling LG only devices /has a very limited database.
B: LS740 is using some kind of bastardized /proprietary API so ONLY LG Quick Remote works with it. Meaning that none of the apps on Google Play /elsewhere are going to work and if LG doesn't update Quick Remote, one of the main selling points is worthless.
If that turns out to be the case, I will remember such on future purchases.
Stupid question but what kind of "reason" or case could LG (Or one of the carriers) have for crippling the LS740 besides they want you to buy a more expensive phone?
(I guess the guy(s) or gal(s) that made the decision to lock down the api thinks everyone is made of money.)
Q: For those that follow LG, are they likely to update the database of the LS740 so it can control more devices based upon the past?
EG: Do a initial release, then patch it up in a timely manner... or do they have the mentally of alot of manufacturers in which they look at customers like mud that's been thrown up against a wall, the mud that sticks to the wall customers happy with the product /not affected by xyz problem, the mud that falls off unhappy customers... and they don't care about the mud that falls off the wall... the mindset being to "Push it out the Door" and they "might" get around to fixing core issues later, but what happens is key people get pulled off the project to be assigned to "new" product rollouts?
Q: What is the chance (Big ha-ha I'm sure) of LG rethinking the proprietary API?... based once again on what LG has done in the past when they do something that proves to be unpopular with the customer base.
